Beating the Bucks was not a given.
Luck is a factor in the playoffs but so is having creators on offense. Butler was our only one in the backcourt. Redick, Ben, and Tobias really don't provide much in that regard.

Feel bad for Durant and Klay, that sucks.

This championship should be ours, the raptors were real lucky with that $hit shot and that our best player was very sick, the league is ours next year and beyond.

Re: Around the League Discussion - 2018-2019 (Playoffs)
The Sixers do for the first time in years have a legit shot to win next year's title. Which is why this offseason is absolutely huge for Embiid and Simmons. We need significant improvement on Embiid's conditioning and Simmons' offensive game.
To not get either of that would be extremely disappointing considering if it's obvious to the fans, it should be obvious to the players too. A championship is potentially within their grasp, no excuses to not be more motivated than they ever have been and work their asses off this summer.
I expect it from Embiid. Not sure what to make of Simmons yet. I thought he'd be more improved than he was in year 2, so to me anything is on the table with him. I wouldn't be shocked if he came out with a vastly improved mid ranged jumper, I wouldn't be surprised if his game looked exactly the same. I'll tell you what though I can't wait to find out.

Completely agree. It's the whole Butterfly Effect. You can't just swap out teams and expect the same result or that the same injuries would have occurred to the Warriors if they didn't take the exact the wrong step at the exact wrong time that they did.
Just to add on to the this, Fred VanVleet scored 14 points in 7 games vs sixers, he had 84 vs Warriors in 6 games, Powell also played much better vs the Bucks and Ibaka had better numbers in the finals.
But saying all this, Sixers were still the toughest competition and they could be the top team in the east next season.

And Embiid was sick for half the games. There's variables on either side.

The wild card in the east is Indiana. They lost their best player and hung around for a while. They have good coaching and are a good team. While people wonder about Boston dropping off the Pacers could be rising and rising fast.
The Accession of Paul Reed is upon us !
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

They treaded water for a while against a weak schedule then wilted when it got tougher, capping it off by getting swept by a Boston team that was falling apart. Nice story but I think they need to add a decent amount of talent in addition to Oladipo coming back healthy (which isn't a given).

I think that team is pretty close to their ceiling (and might have already reached it depending on how their summer plays out). Oladipo is an All Star caliber player and Turner/Sabonis are both high quality centers, but it's not an overly impressive core IMO. Bogdanovic, Young, Collison, Joseph, Evans and Matthews are all free agents, all of which had major roles with the team. Tyreke got that 2 year suspension, so clearly he won't be back. Bogdanovic, Young, Collison and Matthews are all over 30.

The firsts are the potential gold imho....a couple of them could be after LBJ contract, so you never know....

The Lakers are an instant contender. LeBron ($37.4 mil) Davis ($27 mil), Kuzma ($2 mil), Wagner ($2 mil), Bonga ($1.4 mil).
That's five players/$70 mil. They can get another really good player.
EDIT: tT also means that Kyrie will probably be in Brooklyn.
For the Pelicans, that 4 pick is moving IMO.

that's a good haul for the pels.
For the lakers this just show how lebron impacts a team, they will retain AD for sure that's why they gave so much for an expiring.

Danny Ainge ... No Ad. No Kyrie. Hate to see it.

Absolutely not. Treadmill team. They'd have to pull off another major heist to become a real contender.

Re: Around the League Discussion - 2018-2019 (Playoffs)
I assume the Lakers / Pels deal goes through 30 days after the draft. The Lakers will pick for the Pels at #4.
Meanwhile this could be trouble for us. If the Lakers have a MAX slot open prior to the trade they may target Jimmy Butler.
Otherwise I expect them to get Kemba Walker now. He takes over as the starting PG.
PG Walker
SG ???
SF Shadow
PF Kuzma
CE Davis
Bench: Wagner, Bonga, ???
They'll be thin as hell, but a great core. Just hoping they don't take Butler from us now.
