I think that’s about Baynes’ percentage, too

15% TRB% is not good. Al Horford was at 17%, for context.

12.6 rebounds per 40 (17.5%) as a freshman vs 11.5 (16.9%) for Al. On one hand Kabengele was a 20 y/o freshman (or a redshirt sophomore or something), on another hand freshman year stats tend to be more insightful than all others.

They're comparable in terms of collegiate rebounding and build. And as was the case with Al, rebounding tends to measure motor/fundamentals/instincts/etc and hence suggests upside in other areas. On that note I guess it's worth noting that Al also was not a good shooter at younger ages.

Okay, and last year with increased role/minutes it dropped. I wont dismiss that off-hand, given the larger sample.

Also, Al bucking the trend to become a great shooter doesnt mean Kab will too.

I mean, I'm not saying I think Kab is better or less raw or even as good as Al at the same age. But at quick glance he seems a lock to be a serviceable big man and he could prove to be more durable.

If they somehow acquire a center who blows up, he might become available for the Memphis pick, or Smart and the Memphis pick..

Who's WCJ?
Good assessment:

I'm being optimistic. And I agree, they did win that trade, but a lot of others think they lost

Does anyone know what players the Celtics have brought back for a 2nd workout? I am told Celtics usually draft players they work out two or more times.

You can't trade with CHI, they just don't trade. I doubt we trade with them.

We’re actually getting close to front office parity right now.. there’s no early Vivek Sacramento, no Sterling era Clippers, no Demps, the Knicks are the least Dolaned they’ve been in years... Elton Brand, the Lakers FO, maybe Orlando Hammond, and the Washington situation I don’t think are great, but.. as much as there are teams with mediocre rosters, there’s no one right now you can reliably bet on to do dumb things.. shorter contracts and a rising cap have made rosters much more liquid, a big expiring contract is now something teams get rid of instead of using to take on someone else’s player..

The bad contracts are coming, though - John Wall, CP3, Durant, Klay.. there’s probably a team two years away from cap purgatory and luxury tax hell .. we just don’t know who it is yet..

At #14 for me Hachimura, Sekou, Washington, Little even Bitadze would be nice. Wouldn't be too mad if we take Herro at #14(a bit underwhelming but I like how he plays basketball, as I wrote before he's got that nasty streak going which I like and he's a good shooter) and Thybulle at #20, then go for a big man at #22 preferably not Bol Bol. Nothing against the kid it's just I don't expect him to be able to stay healthy, he's skilled but his body will let him down, imo. #22- Claxton or Clarke would be nice. Getting a big man in this draft should be a good idea as there are at least 4-5 who seem very promising.

edit: Oh and Herro will allow us to let Morris go and roll the dice on Semi, Herro, Smart bench, add a vet to it. I know it might be unreliable but it's a bunch of young guys and I believe Semi could be a Morris type without the ego and the volume shooting. He's smaller but has long arms and is probably stronger(he's built like a demi god).

I think that list is exactly right.

The only guys not listed that I think could jump up are Bruno Fernando and Kevin Porter.

Bol Bol is probably the last guy in the green room unless someone like Atl takes a flier on him with multiple picks.

If that happens my guess for last guy standing is probably Keldon Johnson.

So right now, I'm looking at choosing between:

#14
Romeo Langford
Tyler Herro

(I think Little and Clarke will be gone by 14. Washington could def be there, but I just haven't been that high on him. He does get stats tho)

#20
Cam Johnson
Bruno Fernando

#22
Cam Johnson
Bruno Fernando
Ty Jerome
Dylan Windler

(One guy creeping up my board is Luguentz Dort. Would def be interested in him at 22 depending on who we picked earlier.)

Safe to say we are going to draft at least one of those guys. It is interesting to see Bol invited, not that he’s not a lotto talent but given his injury. Somebody going to draft him early.
