Ric Bucher: “I’m told Kevin Durant is out of the hospital, moved into a hotel for the time being in the New York area and him and Kyrie have met and have continued to discuss playing together next season. KD has moved all his stuff and will spend his summer in New York… Every indication says KD is making plans to be elsewhere because obviously Kyrie will not be joining the Warriors any time soon.”

So basically they will be trading DLo for Irving, Crabbe for Prince and adding two FRP next season.

For 2020-2021, season they will add KD.

That's a good plan.

If d'lo hours the open market, we need to do everything possible to get him
Renounce vuc and tross, do whatever you can to trade Moz, I don't care what. We need him in this team

A core of d'lo, Gordon, Isaac, Bamba and fultz if he gets healthy are a top 4 team in the East!

Agreed. Magic should at least try to make a legit play for Russell IMO..

How about this type of trade:
To Cle: Fournier + 16 + 46
To Orl: JR Smith contract + 26

The Magic waive JR and shave $14 mil this season off the cap dealing Fournier . The 26th pick will also make $1 mil less on a rookie scale deal next season.

Renounce all FA's.

Stretch Moz.

Offer DLo a max type contract the first day of FA.
Reaction?

Agreed. D-Lo isn't perfect but since this team is going to try to build on who is here, it would make sense. There's no doubt we need a high-volume guard who can score. and D-Lo fits that. I would love to still try to bring back T-Ross but don't know how that could work cap wise.

So let’s play devils advocate for a minute.

Where else would make sense for Russell this summer assuming Irving goes to Brooklyn?

- Join KD with the Knicks and punt on year one while he recovers?

- Go to Phoenix to step into a position of need and join a Booker + Ayton?

- Magic is gone and Russell has matured. Maybe a return to LaLa land with Lebron as the ace is in order? Imagine if they dump all their assets for Davis as well!

- Indiana and LAC make some sense as well

So tell me ... what makes Orlando a better pick?

~$30-33M

This includes keeping our draft pick and its $3.1M cap hold; keeping Birch (dumb to renounce him) and his cheap $1.8M cap hold; picking up the $1.6M team-option on Iwundu; and cap holds for the other empty roster spots.

If we use the pick to dump Fournier ($17M), that frees up more money and allows us to keep Vuc or Ross and still chase a max FA.

Orlando isn't a better pick. It'll come down to money, role, and maybe city life. If we dump money to sign him, we lose key players that took us to the playoffs; potentially making us less attractive. I dont know his relationships with our players but he's close friends with key players on other teams that are interested in him (KAT, Mitchell).

If we get him, we'd have to get lucky and hope our young core, coach, FO, and behind the scenes training & development staff are what sells him.

Orlando is a long shot.

The Magic have to convince Russell that their situation is better than Utah and Indiana...whom according to Shams Charania's report last week want Russell. Like Orlando, Utah and Indiana would have to make some tough decisions with free agents to get to cap space.

Utah would have to waive and renounce Favors. Indiana would have to renounce 4 of their 5 key FA's: Collison, Young, Bogdonavic, CoJo, and Evans. They probably keep Thad Young.

Utah: Russell + Mitchell + Ingles + ? + Gobert

Indiana: Russell + Oladipo + ? + Young + Turner-Sabonis

Orlando: Russell + Fournier + Gordon + Isaac + Bamba + ?Fultz?

Both of those situations are better than Magic now and have a good a future with proven organizations.

If the Magic could retain Vucecic, they'd have a shot...but right now Russell would have to gamble on a total unknown (Fultz) + 2 non shooters (JI/AG) killing the spacing which was big factor for him in BRK + a big who last year looked 2 years away at best.

Reading around their forum, seems like Pacers have to renounce Young to get to max.

They can get to $25.3m without renouncing Young. If D'Lo really wants to go to competitive situation, I think that's close enough to $27m max for his new team to be able to keep a guy who was key to that unit's prior success.

Russell is familiar with the area after going to Montverde.

AD traded. The big dominoes are starting to fall.

The Pels should try to clear some space to make a run at D'Lo. He seems like a perfect fit for that team.

Eh.

Ball
Jrue
Ingram
Zion
Randle

Seems legit already, tbh.

That's a pg who can't shoot, a PF at center, an injury risk at SF, and a rookie at PF. I would be surprised if they are even as good as the T-Wolves next year.

I think the Pelicans ended up with a great deal. I kinda hoped they wouldn’t have sent AD to the Lakers but at least the Pelicans get a pretty good haul of talent assuming Ingram comes back right and Lonzo gets it together. But I’m thinking if NO actually keeps #4 they’ll draft Darius Garland and Lonzo may not be long for New Orleans. If I recall Elfrid Payton is still there and is a much more tangible prospect than Ball at this point.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

D'Lo/Ball
Jrue/Hart
Ingram
Zion
Randle

+ Garland/White/Culver/Hunter

Part of me would love that they're basically the Lakers rebuild through the draft if this happened, sans Kuzma

That backcourt would be strong. D'Lo would be a massive upgrade over Lonzo, and a perfect compliment to Zion's game. The front court would be interesting, with two bulldozing offensive bigs with similar squat and bulky frames. Then Ingram, the long and lanky SF who does a bit of it all on both ends of the court.

They're all very good/great passers and capable/good individual playmakers, too. Plenty of poor shot choices in there, too, between Randle and Russell. But if it worked...?

Suddenly, LAL might be back in the mix for Kyrie. Durant is a big ??? and just stays home...Result, BRK’s offseason might be far from stellar...result, keeping DLo is their big and overpriced signing. “You’re the one we always wanted”...he’s always (at minimum) their safety net
