Plan B: get Kyrie to commit to stay, figure it out from there
Plan C: Get back DAR for Kyrie
Plan D: sign Ricky Rubio

Separate track:

Try to get something for Rozier from a team under the cap - he’ll be BYC, but 12 or 14 million a year means the Bulls can send us back 6 or 7 - Kris Dunn as a backup?

Think about Horford scenarios: if you can get Steven Adams, Capela, or Drummond for Horford and maybe Rob Williams, and Al’s happy with it, go young and up our rebounding. Adams at minimum has a chance to develop a three point shot, too.

Try to take a flyer on Dragan Bender Patrick O’Bryant style.

Keep Morris on a 1 or 2 year deal at 10-16 million - can flip him for a pick or use him as an expiring.

Keep an eye on Isaac, Carter Jr., Jaren, Ntilikina, Nurkic, Simmons, Exum, Justise Winslow - they all have major upside and could be worth trading for in the right circumstances.

is there a way to use JB to get Capela?

I'm really feeling like he has maxed out and will only lose trade value at his point. I'm also still sour about his role in the team's in-fighting last season.

I also would like to move on from Rozier for similar reasons.

Sign Rondo. Trade for Capela. Bring back Horford on a team friendly deal. Draft Herro, Fernando, Cam Johnson

Rondo
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
Capela

Smart
Herro
Cam Johnson
Baynes
Fernando

I still like JB but the root of our remaining problems is having 3 guys for two spots (hayward, jb, jt) trading one for a big really does wonders to balance out the roster. Jb and Bob williams for Capela would be great, but money doesnt work, maybe Marcus Morris too? He could help the rockets a lot really.

What would a Beal package have to have?

Smart, Brown + picks?

Ideal mid-July roster:

DAR/Smart/Dunn or Ntilikina
Jaylen/rookie
Hayward/Ojeleye/rookie
Tatum/Morris/Yabu
Adams/Baynes/Bender

If we click, there’s enough talent there to make the playoffs and even contend if everyone develops - if Brown scratches Butler/Derozan/George and Tatum does his 2/3/4 thing, Smart keeps stabilizing as a shooter over the next two years, Hayward gets healthy, and Russell keeps growing.

If it’s not working, I’d look to trade Jaylen/filler (Morris, Baynes, Yabu) for a star shooting guard - Zach Lavine, Bradley Beal, McCollum - or test the market for Hayward, or both. Denver, Portland, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Indiana, Utah are all teams who could have interest - moving him isn’t ideal, but it’s fair and understandable, now that so many plans from October 2017 didn’t pan out.

Aaron Gordon could be a target, Tatum at the 3 and Gordon at the 4 could have great synergy.

Jaylen makes about 7 million, what would be the extra salary to match for Capela? I think it sells kind of low on Jaylen, but I could see it.

As soon as they hire a GM I'd be offering those two plus two picks from this draft and the MEM pick. Doubt they bite tho. Depends on what Masai or whoever wants to do, retool or rebuild.

Any chance CHI considers trading Markkanen?

Semi, Yabu, RWIII and all 3 picks in this draft?

I’ll take correction on it, but I haven’t seen anyone demonstrate that’s the case - it would just take unusual cooperation between Brooklyn, Boston, and the players involved.

As an unrestricted free agent, I could see Russell having legitimate interest in joining our roster, but Indiana looks like the front-runner - he’d fit them well.

There are paths minus Kyrie to open up cap space to max DAR ourselves.

I don’t think they can afford to move on from Beal with a rebuilding trade unless they can unload Wall first - and if they deal Wall, it makes more sense to keep Beal.

I could see Wall swapped for CP3, or Wiggins - or Memphis could take him onboard for a couple of draft picks.

I think the issue is $20m going out for Kyrie but $30m coming in for dlo, can't make the salaries match. Obscure s&t rules

The board is jumping right now!

S&T rozier for cousins, haha. Warriora need a guard while Klay is out.

If we trade JB, etc for Beal, then what? Smart, Beal, Hayward, Tatum, Horford? I love Beal, but think hayward, Tatum, or JB needs to be in a trade for a big or a 1. None of those guys should be a 4 or come off the bench...

Jaylen and a signed and traded Rozier might let you get Capela and maneuver around BYC restrictions - unless there are CBA technicalities

Also, **** giving up Al for spare parts and no 30+ guys on the team. Celtics still have a great team and although very improbable it's still possible they're going deep into the POs next year. League is still going to be wide open. Only thing I'm praying for rn is that Lakers go for 3rd max guy instead of just making a really deep team around LeBron and AD. You don't need a 3rd star with those two.

I'm an eternal optimist so now it's up to these young guys to step up once again and Danny to find other avenues.

Beal becomes target no. 1 now. He has 2 years left with no options and in terms of mentality he's much superior to AD. That dude is a dog and loyal to a fault. Also steps the f up in playoffs. Haven't had one 2K career where I didn't trade for him lmao

DLo would be about 25-27 million incoming to us (his max is less than Kyrie’s 32 million) - and if Brooklyn is far enough under the cap, there’s no BYC for DAR, and they can absorb more salary than they send out

Beal + Hayward combo is not my favorite. I like them both but not as much together.

Return to Boston Celtics
