If the Lakers had struck out in free agency along with not getting AD we wouldn't hear the end of the dumpster fire comments. The Lakers have put themselves in a position to win a title. Both teams win in this deal in the sense that their short term goals will be met. We don't know what will happen with the Pelicans picks but RIGHT NOW both teams get what they want.
I’d be happy and scared if I was a laker fan. They had to get this done, and they did, but they did give up a lot (and this from someone who doesn’t like Ball at all), and it could all derail.
To me, the success of this trades depends entirely on the rest of the roster. If they get decent guys to build around lbj and ad, they’ll be good. If they try to get another max guy, they’ll have to get insanely lucky with the bottom of the barrel guys playing big important minutes (they won’t be able to handle an injury to their top three, and they won’t be able to load manage).
Anyway, makes things interesting.
