Garland is clearly quicker/twitchier than Young. He also has better handles but that’s a skill based trait.

Young has a 2nd gear and an ability to change speeds that Garland doesn't even dream of, also cat-quick reflexes and feel for basketball, Garland is twitchier but Trae is a better basketball athlete, and handles wise they are close but again, Trae is way more functional and his craft is just more effective

I think he will be good but struggle being Darren Collison for portions of his career. Its a struggle for how high he will get picked

Garland isn't overly athletic.. he's herky jerky. He actually reminds me of young Andre Miller

In his short season his numbers were really pretty similar to Austin Rivers' numbers

I think the best comp for Garland is Jamal Murray. He can hit tough shots, has an in between game. He has athletic tools, but when you compare him athletically to the top PGs in the league he’s below average.

I can't really predict in which place of the Kemba - Teague - Collison spectre will Garland fall on.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

idk, small sample size...but the ball handling is high lottery worthy, the shooting is as well, and the below the rim finishing ability is very efficient with plenty of advanced adjustment ability and a poor mans KI at times. His passing is also an underrated part of his game and is a work in progress but is by no means bad or lacking. He seems pretty twitchy and quick with the ball in his hands and combining that with the finishing ability and defenders having to honor his shooting % I think any concerns about not being a vertical threat are negligible.

I’ve probably already said this, but he reminds me of Lou Williams.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong

Could be the most successful player from this draft if Zion never finds his shot , and I know that seems like a reach given he may struggle defensively but he has Curry upside.

Stillwater...seems as if we are in agreement on Garland...reminds me of Kyrie....can get his shot anytime he wants, had only a few games in college, has a great handle. I think he can pass better than Kyrie but can't finish around the basket like Kyrie. Bottom line, if he is there at 5, Cavs better pick him...him and White are the only two that will be available at 5 that could be stars in the league.

Maybe its been mentioned, but i have to ask.

Other than shooting a much better 3 ball in college, could somebody tell me about some of the ways Garland is different from Reggie Jackson?

Havent scouted him much tbh. When I watch him I feel like Im watching Jackson play against college kids.

Somebody set me straight. Thank you.

It got reported on the The Jump today that Knicks are planning to host a last min work out with Garland with idea of taking him at three. They don't appear to be sold on RJ.

would you draft Reggie at 3 -5 in this draft? I wouldn't. far better prospect in Garland which should be confirmed by a high pick Thursday with the price being hefty for those who get into the bidding war to get him.

Jamal Murray has elite athleticism. He's taller and longer. He can dunk on people, and finish through contact with great body control.

I don't get the extreme hype with this guy.

You didn't really answer my question, but I don't disagree his draft stock is high. I'm asking if it's mainly in the three point shooting that separates him from Reggie Jackson. Don't get me wrong, it's a huge difference. But the rest of his game is what I'm asking about.

Being high on draft board does not make one good at basketball. Being good at basketball often makes one high on a draft board. I think you know the difference as a Cavs fan, at least since Anthony Bennett.

I'm not making claims about his value, I'm trying to decipher more about Garland's game, outside of his three point shooting. The comparisons I'm reading are all over the place.
