I follow the draft pretty closely, but I'll be honest...I've never heard of a single one of those players. The second rounder narrative gains strength...

I think Olshey has a fall-back deal in place for the draft where if nothing better comes along, he's got a guaranteed move with a team to dump the pick.

Its also very possible that Neil envisions a deal where we send out multiple players for less players and he wants to cover his bases by scouting UDFA end-of-bench type talents. A lot of the guys in that article are clearly not draftable.

Interesting fact; the NBA champs have nobody drafted higher than #15.

Part of Bjelica staying in the NBA and playingnin SAC was there is a strong handshake agreement that Divac wont trade him. He's not an option.

Not doubting the possible "handshake" but given how well Portland has done and how much players like playing here he might actually agree to a trade and want to come here, in addition given out lack of front line talent and Nurk injury and Aminu possibly leaving he'd likely get a LOT of minutes and he's a good shooter which Stotts covets - he could very easily want to or not mind coming to Portland.

I've decided to pin this and then on Thursday morning I'll change the title for that night's draft so we don't lose sight of the conversation we've had so far.

I don’t think it happens but if Bol Bol falls to Portland I think you swing for the fences and take him.
Also I think Isiah Roby could be the best defender in this class against NBA competition.

I'm hoping it's moved with whatever is necessary to get Otto Porter. I'm fully aboard the Otto Porter train. If Chicago is taking calls, I hope the Blazers are making the call.

I'm still pissed Chicago swooped in and got him for next to nothing. They didn't even need him since they aren't going to be a competitive team for a good 2-3 more years minimum.

Hopefully they're willing to still move him again.

Yeah hopefully they view flipping him for a 1st rd pick and a useful expiring contract like Harkless (and Turner) to be worthwhile. That would give real firepower to the SF/PF spot for the first time in a long time

Yeah, hopefully, the Bulls are just such a clueless franchise and seemingly throwing darts blindfolded to make their move, so who knows, but man he would be just perfect.

Acquiring Porter and keeping McCollum would mean $55 million tied up in two players who are not elite players. A Lillard superman would push it to close to $100 million for three players. Swapping McCollum for Porter might work, but I don't see why Chicago would do that.

Porter only has 2 years left on his contract. It will be up before Lillards supermax hits. He wont get that same contract the next time around. The Blazers could definitely afford it right now

I think the Pelicans would have enough cap room to absorb CJ after the Davis deal. I wonder if they would deal CJ for the #4? It would solve our cap issues, and we could promote Hood and eventually Simons.

It would be sexy if we could grab Holiday too somehow and shift Dame to more of a 2 role

We just made the wcf, I don’t love the idea of trading cj for an unproven rookie, we should instead be looking for win now talent with dame.

Harrison Barnes would be interesting if we could get him on the cheap, or if we’re dealing cj I’d love to convince Washington to swap us Beal for him..

Unless RJ Barett is sitting at 4, I wouldn't trade CJ for 4 for there is nobody at 4 that Portland needs.

In all of the free agent talk, the Knicks seem to be left behind. They might be a team worth watching if
they strike out in free agency for like the Hawks, they can absorb salary for they can take on expiring
contracts like Mo Harkless for basically nothing.

If Portland loses most of its free agents (highly likely) and has to replace them with G league talent, and Nurkic is not himself until the Spring, it is not a WCF team, and, for that matter, not a playoff team. I would be OK with clearing space and adding a lottery pick, since next year does not look good.
