1) how much TPE could Kyrie generate
2) does that hard cap Nets
3) how much do Nets have to clear to sign both Kyrie and KD
1. Kyrie counts as last year's salary for us outgoing, ~$20M. If you only take a pick back, we get that full amount. Any players salary coming back is subtracted.
2. Yes, any team receiving an S&T player is hard capped at the apron.
3. Basically everyone on their team if they keep DLo's cap hold (less than his max). If they renounce DLo, it's pretty easy. They only need to clear another $5Mish.
This tool is super handy: http://www.shamsports.com/capulator
It lets you play with renouncing guys, seeing cap space, etc.
The trades don't "check", though, so it lets you do illegal things.
They could also just unload Joe Harris or Dinwiddie..
But if they want Tobias Harris and Kyrie outright, they lose Russell, Ed Davis, RHJ, Shabazz Napier, Treveon Graham - plus they're already renouncing Jared Dudley and DeMarre Carroll..
Crabbe played 26 minutes a game for them last year, Russell 30, Carroll 25, RHJ 20, Dudley 20, Graham 20, Davis 17 and Napier 17..
You can see what the minutes distribution would become for them, but.. Kyrie and Harris into cap space is going to significantly change the character of that team. They overachieved last year with depth and execution, and Kyrie/Levert/Joe Harris/Tobias Harris/Jarrett Allen, with Dinwiddie, Prince, Musa, Kurucs and three vet minimum players off the bench - it's not bad, but it risks the chemistry. they had last year, they may not want to lose all those players..
