I looked up Vince's numbers and noticed he nearly short 39% from 3 last year. I am leaning towards offering him for vet. min if he is ok with taking up a spot near the end of the bench. I doubt he would even get rotation minutes.

I am not Vince fan, I fall in the Vince Quit Camp.... but after that Gasol trade... the depth at the end of the bench is pretty thin.
And I doubt there will be many decent options who will take the vet. min.

2020 finals will be kawhi and pascal against lebron and AD.

With the way Danny played in this run it’s probably best we move on, let norm start and get Vince to provide some of the shooting off the bench

Assuming the taxpayer MLE for the next season is $5,711,000, here are signing targets that immediately catch the eye. Entries with asterisks offer value over and above their current salaries, and thus sadly would realistically be a larger cap hit, not to mention be the target of competing bids.

PG:
Patrick Beverley $5,756,757
*Derrick Rose $2,393,887
*Malcolm Brogdon RFA $1,260,854

SG:
*Rodney Hood $3,472,887
David Nwaba RFA $1,512,601
Wesley Matthews $737,715

SF:
Jeff Green $2,393,887
*James Ennis $1,733,358

PF:
Anthony Tolliver $5,750,000
Mike Scott $4,320,500
Richaun Holmes $1,292,976

I can't believe Brogdon is not talked enough about here. Milwaukee is likely to keep only two of Middleton, Lopez, Brogdon and Mirotic in that order. A combo guard that consistenly provides north of 15 points, in the playoffs no less, has the same dimensions as Danny Green, reads plays well and hustles with purpose on defense, 38% 3fg, comes from money so a chance at a ring would be higher priority and is exactly the pitch Masai could supply, and lastly would have excellent locker room chemistry with an equally educated Gasol seems such a sleeper take. I'd pay him 7.5 million to get him on our side. 16 to 20 points night in, night out would be such a relief on Kawhi's quad and knee that we might actually see his DPoY-level defense return in the finals after expending so much energy slogging through the east, not to mention having more lift for his signature fadeaway j's.

Since Kawhi is definitely staying (speak it into existence), this summer is about preserving this team.

Kyle Lowry / Fred VanVleet / Jordan Loyd
Danny Green / Norman Powell / Wes Matthews
Kawhi Leonard / OG Anunoby
Pascal Siakam / Malcolm Miller
Marc Gasol / Serge Ibaka / Chris Boucher

Take out Miller and that is a solid 9-man rotation for the regular season and playoffs. I would then hope we would use the taxpayer MLE on Wes Matthews to round out our wing depth and add another shooter.

Call it a summer at that point.

Getting Brogdon for 7.5 million is damn near impossible but I would be ecstatic, and we would probably be favourites to repeat.

10 mil or north of that would be too much, he's 27 years old on a rookie payscale. I already think 31yo Danny at 10 mil is an overpay. So I'm really banking he wants a ring more than a fat contract. He might be smart enough to know his 24 year old star forward doesn't simply develop a respectable jumpshot within a summer and might like the Raps chances of repeating better.

He definitely has a better chance of winning here if Kawhi stays. I just think he could get a lot more money, but I hope he values winning over money. He would be immensely beneficial on a team like ours, he was part of the 50/40/90 club this season.

I'm predicting right now that the pacers and Raptors will be a top the East next year

Bucks lose starters
Boston losses Kyrie
Sixers lose Harris or Butler
Pacers get Russell

I love Brogden but some team is going to offer him a deal around 20 mil per.

If Toronto is ok with paying crazy luxury tax next year, then go for it...

I think this is the summer we see Nando back with the Raps. His contract in Europe is up, and rumors are he is open to coming back to the NBA. Assuming our team is the same, Lowry is a prime candidate for the next load management project. We can go over the cap to sign Nando; he basically takes Delon’s role

Nando makes too much sense since they don't need to use an exceptions to get him. Save the tax-payer exception for a forward.
And like you said, they need a replacement for Delon. Nando is basically a combo guard who can fill in at 2 and the 1 when Lowry needs a game off. I want to move Green to back-up 3.

I think Ibaka and/or Powell will be moved for salary reasons this summer

What are some trades that can work?

Could see us getting a late first or a couple seconds for him

then we can sign a cheap backup center like Ed Davis or something.

Not sure who Powell can get us.

Trading one or both of these guys would open up more minutes for anunoby as well.

Trading Powell wont make a difference but Ibaka was important to the playoff run so i could see the team being hesitant to move him.

He'll get over 20 million this off-season. He'll get more than lopez and Mirotic

I really don't want Vince back. I think the strength of the Raptors rotation this year was that every player was a competent offensive player who could play elite to above average defence. Bringing in Vince gives us a weak point. I think there is a better option to be had with the MLE on the wing.

I was thinking vet min and not part of the rotation.
I don't want him anywhere near the rotation.

Brogdon should get $25 million per year. Atlanta needs to pair him with Trae Young.

I can see ATL spending some cash this year.

Return to Toronto Raptors
