Not at all.

We just had an all-time high in gun deaths during 2018. (51 for Toronto)

I visited Toronto and it was amazingly clean, super friendly - would never imagine this type of thing happens

It's becoming more and more frequent. Toronto gun violence is on the rise. Illegal firearms have been flooding the city. People on both sides of the gun debate have their own takes.

Tbh this seems pretty normal. I think there was a shooting at every Warriors parade

Considering that the country directly south of the border is infested with firearms, and the border between the two countries is loosely policed and mostly wilderness - the violence epidemic was bound to spill into Canada.

Dude, I live in the US.... what I consider very rare is likely very different than what Canadians consider rare

It's still a big city. Crime happens. Toronto PD reported ~100 homicides in 2018.

Agreed, but per capita we had a higher violent crime rate than both NY and LA last year.

I hate the narrative that nothing happens here, because things do and pretending that they don't will not help us solve the problem.
