Re: NBA Free Agency / Trade Thread
At this point it is going to be really interesting to see who Vlade decides to chase. I guess we know he isn't going to chase a PG, SG or PF. So, my "guess" and I could be wildly wrong is he will chase a C or SF.
There are quite a number of UFR FA Cs:
https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/ufa/center/
And considerably less UFR FA SFs:
https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/ufa/small-forward/
Add to that - the quality UFR FA SFs are going to be chased heavily and the rest probably won't help much.
So, my guess is that the spend will be on a C. But which one? I am guessing they are going to have quite the discussion. Which has the combination of defensive rebounding, rim protection on D and "stretch" and mobility on Offense?
And of course the question for Sac always - who will come to Sacramento.

If the Kings strike out on the Tobias Harris/Thad Young tiers of combo forwards, I would really like them to give a look to Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. Dude can't shoot, but I think he would fit in smaller lineups with Barnes/Bagley. Plus, the guy can defend.

Edit: $75 million is the lowest I could see.
This is what I see as well and why I don’t like it.
Yeah, if it’s around 20, he just hasn’t shown the impact and we’ll have a lot of salary besides him for me to like it
How much do you think a two-way starting SF entering his prime is worth in today's environment? 20 is about right. Its the most in demand type of player and its not even close.

This is the reality. He’s such a useful player, even though he doesn’t knock your socks off. He should be incredibly reliable for this team and getting him for the current market value before it increases next season will be a win in my book.

I really hope I'm wrong but its inevitable if the Kings extend a QO.
My hope is the Kings don't extend the QO to Willie and instead go after Brook Lopez.
It will be interesting to see. There's almost no reason not to extend at this point so they have some leverage with him. They could always just rescind it. As time goes on more and more blurbs here and there are hinting at the Kings moving on. I think they do in the end. Willie's cap hold is the difference between them being players in free agency or not.

Hollis-Jefferson was overrated at one point, but I think he's now become underrated. As a small ball PF he had a good run 2 years ago. I wouldn't mind it at all.

Sweet!! Let's hope we can extend 4/60. That's my ideal offer but I would be okay with 3/60 as well, which means it will most likely be a 4/80.

Re: NBA Free Agency / Trade Thread
Alright my dumb plan from one day of thinking on it.
Sign Dedmon to a 3 yr 40mil deal with Team option the last year
Trade $(say a 1mil) for Tony Snell and pick 30 from the Bucks
Trade pick 47 for Frank Ntililkina - develop him to be Fox's backup
Sign Oubre to a 4 year 64mil offer sheet
PG - Fox Ferrell Ntililkina
SG - Buddy Bogi Snell
SF - Oubre Bogi Snell
PF - Bagley Bjelica
C - Dedmon GIles
Draft 30 40 60
Draft a PF, WIng and Combo Guard.
This allows us to have money to lock up Buddy and Bogi next year and Fox and Giles the year after with no issue. We aren't stuck under any bad deal and have good money coming off the books in 2022 and 2023 to be flexible.

Capela....
Rockets expected to pursue Jimmy Butler. No ones taking Paul IMO. IMO it would need to be Capelas salary to be dumped to get that room.
But don’t know the severity of the Butler rumor
Of course multiple teams would line up for that, so probably not a good chance

Sacramento has the money for a Jimmy Butler ,he would get Sacramento into the playoffs .
I don't know how many Kings games you watched but WCS is on DeAndre Jordan's effort level. It's infuriating and frankly most of us are done with it.
With that said WCS coming off the bench wouldn't be an issue for me.

I made this point in another thread but Bagley is the guy you want out ahead of the pack on the break, you don't want all five guys running out to the basket. You have Fox and Bagley running down the middle of the floor with you two wings out on the perimeter and so at the 5 you want him to be trailing and spotting up for 3 from the top. That's something a guy like Lopez/Horford/Dedmon could offer. If you have Willie running out ahead of the pack right next to Bagley then there's no spacing.

I think that once you get the main deal done (Horford; Barnes; b/u 1/2) if you can get RHJ on a 2-3 year deal as your fifth big for cheap thats a steal.

I would pass on Adams, the 21 isn't worth it in my opinion to take him on. Only 2 years left on his contract but he's not the type of guy we should be targeting at center, he'd just clog up the space that Bagley should be operating in.

True.
He and Bjelica could coexist but not worth it now that I think about it.

Bagley's 3 point shot will get some extra work with Adams on the floor.

Re: NBA Free Agency / Trade Thread
Do you guys think we strike early in free agency this year? OR do you think we sit back and play the field?
Last year we pretty much waited until the very end and swooped on Bjelica/Yogi. We then kept cap space open.
Might we do the same this year?
??/Giles
Bagley/Bjelica
??/??
Buddy/Bogdan
Fox/??
We have a lot of holes to fill. But I could see us waiting it out, letting the big chips fill and then try to sign vets to 1-2 year deals and/or look to the trade market.

It’s a possibility and certainly a way to generate leverage. It’s also very, very risky. The team is in a spot where they can pick either option though. There isn’t very much pressure to make a push other than antsy fans who want to make the playoffs. If the team wants to be smart with their money, then they can wait out the market and pick up the scraps.

I hope we have a well thought plan. For instance, these are our targets, if we miss then we don't panic. Vlade should have a board in his office right now reading something like -
Center
Horford - 3/60
Lopez - 2/30
Dedmon - 2/18
Gibson - 2/18
Adams/21 for Swanigan/40
SF
Barnes - 4/70
Tobias - Max
Bojan - 4/70
Ross - 3/45
Danny Green - 2/30
Ariza - 2/24
PG
Beverely - 2/25
Collison - 2/16
Joseph - 2/13
Rose - 2/20
And he should work his way down the list trying to find the right targets. Maybe we can even get a picture of the board when we sign Horford/Barnes/Beverely lol

I hate this line of thought. I think Adams would be great for us. The clogging the lane thing is easily mitigated by having him simply take 2 steps to the other side of the key. Dominate PFs have thrived for years with big mobile centers. If the double comes then he beats it or passes out to create easy offense. Just lazy fake roster building mindset haha.
