AD will not waive the trade kicker and b. The trade will become official June 6. But even that is just assumptions. NO got a good deal on the picks, but we don’t even know if the reason why they got such good deal is because we will be allowed to close the trade June 30th. We just don’t know.

I agree this is all speculation but if it’s really July 6th and July 30th was not agreed upon conditionally or flexibly then Rob needs to be fired after the offseason. You could probably fire the whole front office as well because that is a glaring oversight that’s inexcusable. You literally screwed your future because you didn’t understand how the CBA works.
It’s not even legal to agree to the 30th. They can wink and do it but that’s all

Well if the terms of the trade are you’re using the salary of the rookie pick as part of the trade package then defacto you have to wait until the 30th. If you’re trading the rights then the trade can be consummated July 6th and after. So in other words we screwed our selves. The fact that we haven’t heard anything saying that it’s July 30th makes me think Rob and Jeanie **** this up.

32 million also expands the teams ability to get multiple players that are solid rotation guys. This isnt all about the max cap space.

So.... if i'm following correctly.... instead of Davis waiving his kicker were going to pay our way out or trade additional assets away....or both to get to a max slot?

Those aren't assets.

Granted, but who's left on the roster? That's even more players we have to sign. Wagner is good for 5-10 minutes a game just taking up space and hitting a shot or 2. He may be as good as any second string center we can get otherwise.

...oh... and I'm not sure what zip code you come from but $3.7M is an asset in mine.

you're underestimating the number of veterans chasing rings who would come here on minimum contracts or the attraction the team would have during the buyout market. I'm not one bit worried about the amount of people on the roster.

no i don't, the Lakers would easily make that money up by winning more games.

We heard this year in and year out during the Kobe years yet no one showed up.... at least no one of note.

We'll see and I truly hope you are right. My initial point is that we seem to be doing backflips to ensure that Davis keeps his kicker. If the ring chasers are out there who are willing to forgo longer contracts or more money, why isn't the guy getting paid a kings ransom willing to give up $4M.... I'm sure he'll make it back selling chips.

Doesn't make sense for AD to state that he's going to waive his trade kicker at this point without knowing exactly who is coming if anyone. If a max free agent was interested, i would be utterly shocked if he didn't waive it and that free agent moved on to another team as a result.

I’m more and more convinced that this will be three team deal by the time it’s done.

It was already heavily reported that they were looking for a third team before it got announced. Soon after it got announced it was heavily reported the 4th pick was being shopped.

I think the trade between the Lakers/NO got leaked before getting a third team in place cause they wanted to 1. encourage teams to join the deal, teams that didn’t want to be seen as being responsible for sending AD to LA, 2. Wanted teams to have an understanding of what was already part of the deal, 3. Lakers probably wanted a Davis agreement in place regardless if they could find a third team to join, wanted added clarity going into free agency.

It seems that there are still a lots of creative way to create even more space for team to sign a max player.
