Only way we are trading Warren/Jackson for 2nd round picks is if we already have a guarantee from a high dollar FA that he will sign here. Word is it will be done before the draft, soooooooo......since FA hasnt started and teams cant talk to players, i think it would be safe to assume it would have to be a player that is either friends with a current player (Wonder Who?)....or one that shares the same agent as a current player (Someone like DUffy who reps Oubre/Ayton and also Collison).

I’d be surprised with that scenario.
Btw if it’s just cap space that the Suns want, why wouldn’t they trade Johnson and Jackson instead of Warren and Jackson?
Well at this point Tyler Johnson hasn't exercised his player option. I think he has until near the end of the month. So you can't trade him or do anything with him.
A lot of people on twitter think it's easy to just trade guys into space but many teams might not want to do that..most teams probably. Now I think there are some teams that would happily take TJ into space but a lot of teams probably also have free agency plans. I'm not sure what teams need wings either...of ones that have cap space.

I mean that's the hope, but we keep being fed info and reports that Jones wants to sign a couple of vets to fill out the roster. Clearing space for Collison doesn't exactly make sense when we can get a similarly valued PG with the cap room we'll have regardless.
I would not be surprised if we are making a hard run at Tobias Harris, which would make sense considering we are trying to trade our wing players rather than Johnson. I would prefer D'Lo for a number of reasons but Harris would be a "splashy" move that could pay off short and long term.

Its cause when you play 2K, the first thing you do is trade all your trash into cap space for picks and some people think thats how it works.

still would like to get him man! Maybe if we can move Jackson for space, He's a vet that would fill a need for us? And perhaps we could absorb him for them after moving Jackson?bwgood77 wrote:Ghost of Kleine wrote:?s=09 .
Josh Jackson and the Milwaukee pick for Harris. Perimeter shooting addressed.
The only POSSIBLE reason they would be shopping him is to dump his money to fit two max guys (Kyrie and Horford?)...
Not for Josh Jackson lol.

To be clear, Harris is obviously the best player out of the 3. He suits playing the 4 better TJ, rebounds better, a little more efficient and I think is better suited to be a #2 or #3 option than TJ too. But he's likely going to get paid 3 times more than TJ

Tobias Harris imo is the most overrated player in the NBA today. If we sign him to some ridiculous deal, I really think it’s going to be Brandon Knight type thing again.
Warren’s injuries annoy me as much as the next guy but I would much rather easily hold on to him than sign Tobias freaking Harris to a huge deal.
Warren came back last season improving his 3pt shooting so let’s see if he can come back this season being a better defender and perhaps being more durable.

I think you're underplaying how much better Harris is than TJ, but I'm also not advocating we should go pay Harris 30+ million. He's better at everything across the board and also capable of guarding the PF position which I don't believe TJ can do at an acceptable level. You can also trust his health. I just think it's something Jones and crew are realistically considering. And I anticipate Harris gets around 25 per year anyway, he's not a max level guy unless he stays with the Sixers who can go over the cap.
Monty has had time with Harris. Idk, I just get a feeling he will be a main target.

I know how good Harris is. Answer: he's VERY good and I'm a big fan of his. But he's one of those guys that will get overpaid this offseason. He just will. I think Harris' agent should get fired if he's only getting $25m a year. There's teams like LA, Brooklyn, Indiana, Sacramento and Dallas that will miss out on the premier talent and will settle on on that next tier of players and give Harris $30m+ a year. Hell, if that's all he's getting, I'm sure Sixers would love to keep him on board simply because he's a better fit and probably cheaper than Jimmy Butler.
For what it's worth, this isn't a TJ vs Harris discussion because it's clear Harris is better than TJ in most facets on the court. My post is to show how good value TJ really is and how close to max or near max players his production is.

If Warren is a UFA right now what kind of contract does he get and what teams might give it to him?
Its a tough question but gives some idea if they are trading him for space who might be interested. The full mle is his floor. Looking at the cap space teams it's tricky until you know how the chips fall.

In this off season where quite a few teams have cap space (and roster spots to fill) and good wings are always in demand, I wouldn't be surprised if he got about $14-15m a year. A 26 year old still with potential that's averaged close to 20ppg over the last two seasons on good efficiency is going to get a good contract.

More than Rodney Hood, less than Harrison Barnes (though Barnes is worth less than his perceived value)

Barnes is probably going to make at least $15m right? No way he leaves $25m on the table for less than 15 a year, even if it's for multiple years.

But they'd be better off trading for Warren at half the salary. TJ to sac for a pick swap of the Milwaukee pick and their pick next year or something creative like that.

I have no idea who is going to give him more than 15. Maybe he hated it in Sacramento?

If the clips get Kawhi i can see them making a play for Al. They'd have SGA, Shamet, Kawhi, Al and Zubac plus Lou, Gallo and others off the bench. They can use that Miami 2020 pick (
If Kawhi actually does sign with the clippers I kinda wanna see that team. Kawhi vs lebron and Al vs AD would make for a good battle of LA.

The Lakers will be getting Horford. Starting at $23M the first year, than $25 the next, $27 the next, etc.

That would ruin them. With the acquisition of Davis to shore up interior defense, they need 3 point shooting more than anything.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm secretly hoping the Lakers get older players...
