Well, the Knicks do have a lot cap space...

Wonder if it's a Horford situation? Opt out to resign longer, restructure, etc.

It's possible. But not as funny.

Until that is the plan but the Knicks swoop in at the last minute and "steal" him for a MAX contract!

Mike Conley traded to Utah for trash.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

takes away one of the ways we could remain a treadmill team and also solidifies MEM will be tanking and almost guaranteed to keep their 2020 pick. So with Ja Morant, JJJ, and a top 6 player in a loaded 2020 draft, plus the most cap space in the league, they should make some noise in 2020 which should make our 2021 unprotected pick from them land somewhere in the teens if not the twenties.

btw awful take. Not a "trash" package. MEM gets three contributors, a first this season, a future first, and shed Conley's salary. It's just about the best offer I could see anyone making them.

Yup just saw this a few minutes ago too.

That’s good for Boston. That’s a big loss for Memphis and hopefully helps are pick for next year.

It would certainly give Hayward some heartburn.
“There’s a sense of pride, there’s an edge you have to have to play here. I can only imagine the love, the reception, if you hung one of those banners up. It would be incredible — it’s going to be incredible. I know it.” —Jayson Tatum

And you have to figure Korver will be shopped or bought out by the deadline.

Korver is only guaranteed 3 out of his 9 million (give to take) if released by July 7. He’s gone. 2019 pick is #23 and Memphis doesn’t want it and looking to unload. Grayson is a stiff. Basically Mike Conley for Jae Crowder and cap relief.... and a future #25 - 30 pick.

That's an amazing haul for an always injured pseudo all star with a big contract for 2 more years on the wrong side of 30.

We'd be lucky not to have to give picks up for ours to go away and he's 28.

I think players are a little spooked by what happened to Durant and Klay (suffered severe injuries just as they're about to go to free agency) so now they just seek to secure long term deals while they're healthy. Could be the same case with Horford, although age may have also been a factor.

Yeah, imagine having to trade away the next Zizic and RJ Hunters of the NBA to get stuck with a 31 yo PG who plays unselfishly, is a coaches dream and puts up 21/6. If only we could have got the #23 pick for Irving before he left.

For Utah who has 3 players entering prime and no chance of luring a big time free agent, this was an amazing use of salary cap capital. They got a really good player for nothing and even if he gets hurt again, the 2 years left on contract will never hinder their nonexistent ability to sign a FA.

Yeah, was a good trade for the Jazz. good trade for the Griz. Would have been a terrible trade for us.

I like that it strengthens Utah's guards, where the Lakers are weak. If Gobert can suppress AD, the Utes will run all over the LakeShow.
