Not sure i understand this deal

In exchange for an extra pick (#30 in a weak draft) we are taking on an additional 12M worth of salary two seasons from now?

Mind you next summer was the year we were supposed to go and sign some new players, now we are stuck with Snell's 12M on the books instead?

Snell averaged 6 pts, 2 rebounds in 27 and 18 minutes per game, respectively, the past two seasons

Really worth that 12M

We continue making terrible decisions with or without SVG

Well... at least we got pick 30, because Tony Snell isn't good. We just seem to be a dumping ground for bad players Milwaukee doesn't want.

Edit: I just saw Tony Snell's contract... oh my god...

We have our first small forward on the roster and that shoots 40% from 3 land. Plus #30. This year was a wash for Jon vs snell and Jon woundnt have played snell will

Detroit wants Bazley but he'll be gone by 30.

I think this means a PF at 15. We only have Thon as any back-up big.

I mean, Snell can shoot and defend. It's not like he's unplayable or even a lower-tier rotation option. He's just decent. Which, I guess is a significant upgrade for the Pistons. The initial thought of the money for 2020-21 made me shake my head but at the same time it's going to be a bad free agency and Detroit doesn't get much use out of it anyways. Meh.

i really like this trade. snell costs $2 mil more this season but gives us wing depth and shooting, which we desperately need. he has an expensive player option ($12.4 million) next season but at this point we can afford that with all the salary coming off the books. and while snell isn't a great player by any stretch of the imagination, he's a wing with decent size and a legit 40% shooter from 3. snell giving us that for 10-15 minutes a game is way more than leuer has given us in years.

for that price we pick up the 30th pick this year, which gives us another cheap prospect/player which we need with our cap situation.

Wonder if we can package 15 and 30 and move up? Probably not

Yep basically. 30th has the the aura of a 1st round pick. In reality, I wonder whether the 31st pick is more valuable because of the no guaranteed contract etc
