Getting JR Smith sounds like something that other smarter teams are able to pull off. This level of savvy is not really something I can believe in.

But just to entertain the thought, I would think it would have to involve Fournier over Mozgov.

Followed by stretching Moz.

think it will depend on what gets packaged with said player for JR.. IMO it has to be a pick + salary for JR. Cleveland is punting cap space and really has no other interest in other players. Would 2020 lotto protected pick + EF for JR be enough or would we need to lower that to Top 5 protection?

At some point we have to start adding talent and not relying on "finding a star" in the draft. You have to hope they see the same track/idea that we see in a possibility to get DLo. I laid it out the other day they could even get DLo while keeping TRoss and Birch cap hits and resign both of them. Is it far fetched somewhat but goodness this off-season might be the best chance to get a proper guard to pair with our youth. I'd almost rather see them make any move instead of sitting still taking what falls at and rolling with the punches for another year. Small market teams can't just sit still and hope something falls into your lap.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

If only it was easy to do to... trade up for Reddish and sign DLo.

Russell / Reddish / Isaac / Gordon / Bamba

Sprinkled in with vets who can ease their transition and development.

Yea as a 4/5.

I just think if Bol falls to 16 unless his injury really scares the Magic we should take him. Elite offensive player with insane measurements and some of the highest upside in the draft.

But I can talk myself into almost anyone that is projected to go in our range.

I remember Cliff saying last year just before the draft, in regards to Young vs others, that you can find ways to hide players on defense as long as they're lighting up the scoreboard on the other end. So there's maybe a chance WeHam see appeal in Herro if they feel he's a too flight scorer.

WeHam, at some point, have to start adding players with an offensive design in place. The playoffs were probably great for that. Finding out who's capable of getting playoff shots off (a lot more mid-range and long 2's, plus shots at the rim and on the perimeter). Herro looks to have a nice pull up mid range shot on him. But Fournier also does, and he's got the advantage of height and length, and it didn't help him much against Toronto (not every team will be able to defend like them). Herro's length will be the biggest handicap when attacking the rim. I can't help be see Herro as more Stauskas than JJ, but if we took him I'd still be excited for him.

A player who can get to the rim is probably the biggest priority. Langford and NAW seem much stronger than Herro at that.

Agreed. Echoing what I said earlier, I'd be very accepting of Herro on this team. Lord knows we've got the length to cover him, and he puts forth an effort on defense at least.
Theyre deciding between NAW and Herro (who i think will be the better player)

This is how I feel too, if he's there at 16, the upside is too high not to take him

To me hes what we hope Bamba could become on the offensive side while still being a good defender

It's possible that NAW, Langford, Keldon Johnson, Bol could all be gone by 16.

My hope is that a couple of those guys like Washington, Hero, or Clarke get taken in the top 15.

This argument stemmed from the fact this team has made the playoffs for the first time in the post Dwight era in seven years. We have a lot of questions that need to be answer this offseason. The Magic need to take the next steps towards taking smart, yet calculated risks with the roster to help improve their strengths and weaknesses in order to move forward in progress. This season, the team made the playoffs as a seventh seed. Next season, they need to move up to show they are serious about making a name for themselves. As much as I can appreciate what some of the players could bring to the table as potential Magic players at #16, I can't help to think they will not be enough to move the needle. I fully suggest to trade the #16 to acquire an establish young player back in return.

who do you think is available for #16.

Sorry for the late reply. It took some time to check down some players to determine these possible players.

1. Mikal Bridges: solid defender, transitional player, versatile to both SG & SF positions, 3&D player, potential scorer in the making, decent playmaker, has room to continue to develop his game. Is about to enter into his second year of his rookie contract. His potential as a starter has some merit.

2. Cedi Osman: defender, more of a half court player, is versatile to both SG & SF positions, shot creator, still improving perimeter shooter, has room for improvement on offense. His potential as a starter is borderline right now due to his inconsistent perimeter shooting.

This is the first season in a long time i haven't really followed NCAA. Its an odd feeling, i have no idea who we should pick based just off the scouting videos and mocks.

Can this team for once keep their second round pick and not trade it for a change?

Not really enamored with any of the players so I'm going with the player I liked before the season in Romeo Langford. Hoping the surgery can help his shooting. And he does have star potential which is what I want in a weak draft.

It's merely a thought. I focus on both players. Bridges for what he brings to the table. Plus, with the Suns roster being stacked at the wings, I wonder how much minutes will he be allowed to play due to the logjam. Plus PHX do have a lot of issues to resolve between JJ and his off the court issues, Oubre's free agency, and Warren. With the Suns FO, only God knows what's on their agenda with the franchise.

As for Osman, he's two years in the league. Just like Bridges, he's playing for a rebuilding team that's years away from contending for a playoff position. What separates him from becoming a better player in the long run is his perimeter offense. If Osman continues to develop his perimeter game, he would improve his shot creating skills which could prove beneficial for his future.

Outright there might be value in Orlando trading Fournier and #16 for Smith and #27. I will tab KZ Okpala in that slot for the below conversation, but Kevin Porter is equally slot-able.

Retaining Smith over the season with a resign of Vučević and Ross, the roster becomes something like:
Augustin/Fultz/Carter-Williams
Ross/Smith/Okpala
Isaac/Iwundu/Frazier
Gordon/vet-FA
Vučević/Bamba/Mozgov

This places the Magic to swing large in the 2020 off-season for as Mozgov and Smith coming off the books

What free agent "swing for the fences" are we getting with ~14mil in 2020 lol

Based off of everything we know about this front office, I think we all can agree that they are going to pick BPA regardless of position, So I believe if Bol Bol is there at 16 they are absolutely going to take him. my top 3 choices are NAW, KPJ, or Bol Bol...but to me BPA is between KPJ and Bol Bol, the only players in that range with All Star Potential. If we end up with any of the 3 I will be a Happy camper...I also think if the Price is right they might even be looking to move up a spot or 2 tonight

Yeah, seems like this is the FO’s drive in drafting
