I want Tyler Herro at #16. Langford and Ozpela are others I like.
Not high on NAW.

Re: It's draft DAY! Who should we take at 16? (Poll)
I don't think this draft is weak at all. There are players down to 20 that could be really good. There are players from 2 on that might not be that great...this is a draft where some FO's will really shine-I've got my fingers crossed for WeHam...who will be the team(s) that can really determine which players will translate better to the NBA than college and/or which college studs won't fit in NBA game? I don't think we'll be able to determine winners/losers for months (at least). I know that's always true, but more than ever, this is a draft of skilled players more than raw, so results may clarify in rookie year to a greater extent...I'm thinking NAW, but there are a lot of wings I could make a case for...not to mention those versatile bigs (like Hachimura) would be tough to pass on as playmaking complements to Bamba, etc down the road. I'd be surprised if I'm disappointed tonight-just because it's far from clear who's where. Just (PLEASE) no raw projects and no one that can't shoot or score outside of the low post. We need shooting, driving, and drawing fouls + defensive length.

I a back up power forward if available, Washinton or Clarke to replace Jarrell Martin. I am for a realistic and best player available at any position. We have to resign our free agents in Vooch and T Ross.

If we end up with any of the 3 I will be a Happy camper...I also think if the Price is right they might even be looking to move up a spot or 2 tonight
Yeah if Bol is there I just can't see Weham passing on him.

Every year we get the #6 pick
“When you pick this high you have to go bpa. Can’t reach for a guard when better big prospects are available.”
This year at 16
“This is the type of draft they have to go bpa regardless of position”
Are there any drafts/scenarios where we can draft people that fit our team?

I would rather search for fit through trades and free agency than in draft where we dont even know what is the real skillset of a player. You want catch and shoot player to compliment your core ? bam Booker. You want star player to build around ? boom Wiggins.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

If Naw/Herro/Langford/KPJ are on the board at 16 and we pick KZ Okpala I will protest summer league. He will not be able to shoot at the next level and would be a bad fit in our already loaded FC. I really don't want to even entertain the idea of us drafting him but for whatever reason, I keep seeing his name brought up here

When we are confident that we have a star on the roster and want to start supporting said star. This roster has hope of a Star i think but it’s nowhere close to saying we are in position to draft need. I think it’s not an either or situation though need is always factored in but if your drafting and you really believe this one player is substantially better than the need players available you choose the better player always. If it’s close in evaluation you go with the team fit as a tie breaker for lack of a better term
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Yeah if you want to put everyone to sleep.

Can’t wait to watch him do things that don’t pop up on the box score.

How nuch of an improvement do we really think that NAW would be over Wes really, if he improves his jumpshot? That's begining to be my only drawback.

I'm not that high on him and he'd be a hell of a lot better to have than Iwundu imo.

On the ringer podcast they said something along the lines that according to league executives NAW would be a player that we look back and tell ourselves he should have been a top 10 pick and that from the entire draft he has the highest potential of being a star from where he's being projected to be picked at which sounds amazing to me.

It’s possible he’s better than Wes but still just a safe vanilla pick. Herro is more exciting imo.

He isn't really a replacement for Iwundu. Iwundu defends twos and threes. NAW will defend primarily ones and two, though he might have enough length to defend threes as well.
NAW is a much better shooter than Iwundu was when he was drafted. That he has been consistently contrasted with Herro as an option at 16 has really diverted attention away from his quality in this regard. NAW is more than just a catch-and-shoot guy as well.
The biggest knock on NAW has been that he isn't a great athlete. It's not that he isn't a good athlete, but rather that he lacks explosion. He doesn't use athleticism to create space, but he has enough wiggle with his dribble to create space for his jumper. He gets good elevation on his shot and he can catch-and-shoot after curling off of a screen. Similarly, he doesn't use his athleticism to blow by guys, but rather he uses it to get an edge on his defender. Once he has the edge, he is really good at getting into the body of his defender and then using his length to finish (Herro is good at this as well). NAW is right-handed, but he is really good at finishing with his left as well.
He is crafty with his dribble, but I don't think he is going to provide value as an iso guy. I do think he has a lot of potential as a pick-and-roll initiator though. This is where he showed a lot of improvement this year and it's what really excites me about his offensive potential. He dribbles with his head up while probing and he can fire passes with either hand. It's going to take time for him to develop his pick-and-roll game, but I believe he will become a real weapon in time.
His length is an obvious asset at the defensive end and he is pretty good at anticipating passes. He should be a versatile defender that can share the floor with pretty much anyone.
He doesn't have the raw tools of someone like Langford, but I really like NAW. Langford is a guy that you can give the ball to in an iso situation and ask him to create offense. That's enticing, but I believe that NAW has a significant advantage in almost every other area. He looks to me like someone that has worked really hard to improve his skill set and I think that bodes very well for his future.
