NBA DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION + DRAFT NIGHT THREAD

Post#1 » by fendilim » Thu Jun 20, 2019 4:48 pm

Not seeing any draft news at all. Might as well create a thread where we can post NBA Draft Orlando Magic related news here.

This is an interesting draft. I don't know a whole lot about the guys who will likely be there when we pick I have watched some YouTube highlights of some of them though. I'd be fine with most of them but I do think if Bol Bol is there at 16 Weham are going to take him he's the ultimate example of what they've been drafting.

Honestly haven't followed much outside than NAW, Herro and Bol Bol seems like a hot or miss type of player. But his injury is scary. I don't think I've seen anyone, outside of him and Porzingis, standing 7'3" that moves as gracefully like them, and Porzingis has a history with injuries as well.

Skin did a nice writeup and Matisse, so I did watch a few, but I'm not too worried about his shot tbh. Its not like he doesn't have a pulse at all. He shot 80% or something around that from the FT line.

In typical fashion Orlando isn't connected to anything or anyone, it amazes me how closed lipped they are. Even with the Fultz stuff last deadline it came seconds before the deadline and no subtle news/hints prior.

The only thing we know that they have spoke on publicly is that we will pick BPA which could be anyone in our range and is so subjective.

I wouldn't mind taking a shot at Bol Bol if he's there, but I think we play it safe and nab one of Little or NAW.

Yeah the injury thing is the biggest knock on Bol but if he could stay healthy and get stronger/deal with the physicality of the NBA plus do most of the things he's capable of he'd be a big matchup problem.

I'm already a bit drunk. Had the day off. Really hope we somehow draft Bol Bol but I'm ok with pretty much everyone in our range.

No spoilers before the picks are announced, please.

I read that Woj & the gang are planning to do a dick-measuring contest in the form of spoiling picks as fast as possible.

My stream will probably be behind anyway, so I'll avoid realgm a couple of minutes before each pick anyway.

Yeah last year Woj got around it by saying things like "Orlando is enamored with Mo Bamba with the #6 pick" but apparently this year he doesn't have to do that he can just announce it.

The draft on Twitter is actually more enjoyable for me. I don’t have to listen to the talking heads and get up to the second updates (especially the trades) through the platform. I usually have the tv on anyways.

Atlanta have traded #41 to GSW and #44 to Miami.

Basically both picks were traded for cash + heavy protected 2nd round picks in 2024.

Doubt we do anything drastic or "exciting". WeHam don't seem like guys looking to make the splashy, headline grabbing moves just for the sake of shaking things up.

I keep my Twitter one on but don't look after the pick before is revealed so I get the experience of hearing The Magic pick at the podium.

Hoping for Tyler Herro and not NAW but we will see.

here you go, dont want to use the 2nd round pick, could use it on Frank. im not really a believer in him, but this is a low risk move

Man...I used to say Bol Bol as a joke. But if the small sample size we have on him were any indication, he would probably be the best shooter on our team. Even if he does have a low motor and can't play extended minutes, he and the other center we drafted with the same issues can split minutes and grow together.

Such a Orlando thing to do, but this is extremely buy-low scenario. If we could convert #46 into Frank I think it's a win especially considering Fultz is still a question Mark and we literally have no one backing up Augustine that isnt a FA.

why not take best offensive PG available at 46? We already have enough offensively challenged players on our team why add another?
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.
