With rumors that Minny is looking at trading up and Rui having a promise in the lower lottery, I'm starting to think he is our guy. Only reason I would mind this is if we pass up Sekou for him.

I have a flight at 7:50 lol

Does it have WiFi? I'll be at a family function tonight so I'll have to check things on my phone.

Doubt it it’s a short flight. I plan on buying the WiFi if that’s an option though

So over the last couple weeks I've kind of been taking a crash course on the draft once it became apparent that we weren't looking to salary dump the pick. Feels like - to me, and after trying to find a consensus - that there's a delineation between picks 11 and 12.

Zion

Ja
RJ

Garland
Culver

Hunter
White
Reddish

Sekou
Clarke
Little

Then there's a group from 12-20 or so with Hayes, Langford, Bol, Porter, NAW, Herro, Washington, Williams, and my personal favorite Goga.

I think I'd jump on any of those top 11 that fall, and if they're serious about moving up I think 6-8 is the sweet spot without giving up the farm.

You’re not going to miss much BoB.

Charlotte will draft a player.
Fans will be annoyed at the pick.
Life will go on.

Or

Charlotte will trade the pick.
Fans will be annoyed at the trade.
Life will go on.

I want Goga now but I understand the international branding that Hachimura would bring. Plus this is funny:

If we draft Rui can we call him Soosh?

(Slang for sushi. Also feels like a Japanese version of the Nike “Swoosh”).

I'd be happy if we walked away from tonight with him. Fills a need, is a modern PF and brings some new fans with him too.

I want to like Rui. He LOOKS like a a guy who will fit that wing stud role and has a similar body and athleticism to the two hot topics right now (Kawhi and Giannis).

But he seems kinda like Harrison Barnes a little bit. Like all the tools are there but something is just not quite put together

I think its cause he is still pretty mechanical in his movement like Harrison Barnes. I swear Barnes looks, acts, and plays like a robot

I kinda feel the same way.

I like his demeanour and his floppy hair. Seems like a pretty cool dude - but I just find him so pedestrian and bland as a basketball player.

I think Rui will be the pick as well.

He isn't Harrison Barnes, he can actually dribble the ball and create offense, especially in the high post.

Of course they updated their tiers this morning (though there seems to be a formatting issue with the whole list). But the top 12 is pretty clear, couple notables from guys we worked out:

Brandon Clarke (Tier 2, 5 overall)
Goga Bitazde (Tier 3, 6 overall)

Cole doesn't even have rui in his top 35. Damn. Clarke at 3.

Ringer compared him to a washed-up Carmelo Anthony. Dean on draft listed his comparison as Adam Morrison, not really sure I see that one. I've seen others compare him to the Morris twins and Jabari Parker. I could see a comparison to TJ Warren as well.

But his NBA body measurements seem to give a glimmer of hope that he keeps improving and puts it all together and turns into a stud. He's got the wingspan in the hand size and he's only been playing ball since he was 14. Plus the Japanese media attention would be fun.

Little, rui, hayes, goga, Clarke, pj, naw... one of those 6 me thinks.

Starting to get scared that Rui doesn't even fall to us now. I like NAW over him but I've always liked Rui and have warmed up to the idea of pairing him with Kemba.

I swear I'm missing something with Goga. He looks like a walking turnstile on switches.
