He's gonna put some hurt on Ayton in practices. Just what our soft, young guy needs !! Two thumbs up.

Right up there with Ben Wallace.

Re: Welcome Aron Baynes!
Is he being bought out? Whats the cap situation look like?
I think he is a good player but if we're not buying him out it looks like we're going after one of those average/mediocre point guards we keep hearing about instead of trying to strike gold.

I have no idea what this means? It's not bad but takes up cap space so Warren was traded for what now?

I don't really care that he's staying. I'm just kinda happy that we're not adding to the dead money tally already

Re: Welcome Aron Baynes!
The truth is that Aron Baynes is a clear upgrade over Holmes as a backup C in my book.
I have always considered Baynes a good big to come from the bench and give you C production: good picks, boxing out his man, making a hard foul if needed, eating space around the rim...all those little things.
To me Baynes is way better than Holmes at all those intangibles and at $5.4M he is on a very fair contract.

I don't think he is. He's tough...he's got the toughness and maybe for stuff like setting screens, but he's really not better at any other basketball skills other than maybe passing, and some of those little things.
Holmes is much better at getting the ball in the basket, protecting the rim and those sorts of things...he's also 25 and Baynes is 32.
Baynes is the type of guy you might want off the bench if you're a contender..like that Zaza type but he's not doing too much. He certainly wasn't worth blowing $4 million of cap space over what Holmes cap hit would have been.
I'll be pretty surprised if he doesn't really want out, but ultimately he will probably want the money so will stick around as long as he can. He will likely be another guy that will want a buyout to join a contender at the end of the season...and of course there will likely be no real reason not to.

Well, if he does not want to play for us and he plays with no effort/intensity I will be with you, I would prefer Holmes over him...but I think he will be OK and will play well for us with the intention of getting another contract.
