Bol was one of the least impressive guys I watched. Defensively he was a nightmare to watch. Offensively he has some interesting raw skills and talent but has no idea how to play in a structured offense. Maybe it’s being the product of being taller than everyone and playing on the AAU circuit growing up. But even in games with good stat lines you watch him get out hustled and consistently be in the wrong spots. You better have a damn patient organization if you draf him.

To me Bol is a complete enigma He has shockingly good ball handling and shooting skills but with that skinny frame how can he play in the post.Just small contact and he's knocked off balance. He's got to get stronger if he's gonna last. But you can't deny his skills. Is he the next Porzingis or the next Thon Maker.I have no idea.

Wouldn't be shocked if he falls to the 2nd round at this point tbh as MUM is the word surrounding him despite the polarizing skills and potential of becoming a top 5 player from this draft.
But for that exact reason I also would not be at all surprised if he still gets drafted in the top 10.

nobody is taking him to play in the paint with that frame. Listing him a center is a mistake made by the height and length club as his skillset is more of that of a 3. one that can shoot over anyone and has the dribble drive to slash

if ur drafting him to keep him in the post then just dont even draft him at all, you'll be disappointed

Exactly. He’s a face the basket player with perimeter skills. Maybe part Porzingis. Maybe part Siakam as best case scenarios. And all that just makes him a modern big, Even then, he did show some post up ability, it wasn’t non-existent.

And if he looks slow and a bit awkward at times, that’s because he’s 7’2” and you can’t teach a 7’7” wingspan. But his footwork is way ahead of the curve for a player that size and that makes his defensive potential impressive too. But his overall offensive skill set for his size is very impressive, that’s not the issue.

Bol has a role in the league even if he doesn't develop at all. His shooting will always make him at least a specialist, 3rd string center type. And that's assuming zero development, which is very unlikely.

Is this guy going in the first round? Can I call him a bust already? Is he some kind of sloth?

I don't think you can call anyone drafted this late a bust - it's not like how many views their high school mixtape gets or how many social media followers they have has any bearing on what NBA teams think about him. At this point you're ahead of the curve if you pick someone who stays around past their rookie contract. Also I don't like to cast aspersions on people's character at 19 because they can change, but Bol strikes me as the kind of player who's more into the fame and lifestyle of the NBA than the game itself.

I think teams don't wanna waste their picks on injured players.

His medicals must have been horrible.

If he lost 20 pounds from last year from this year, it was a bad enough injury that he wasn't even able to even work out until very recently (or worse, he could've but didn't due to being lazy or something). So right there that makes it a different situation than Garland's, which was a minor injury where he could've played in February/March but decided to err on the side of caution. Also Embiid missed 2 years with Bol's injury and obviously a bunch of people were thinking he'd never play, so it's not exactly the kind of injury to gloss over.

There isn't much use for a 7'2 shooting specialist who does not play defense. What's the point of having a mega large shooter?

Bol Bol absolutely needs to improve to stay in the league.

As a Nugs fan I’m happy. For him of course you wish he got picked sooner or by a team without a great center but this could be a great spot for him

I know without having picks and hoping the Nugs could trade into the draft. A future 2nd for Bolbol seems too good

From what I heard, medicals were not the biggest issue, still a problem, but interviews were, he came out as a guy with no interest in playing basketball professionally

I figured there must be a ton of psychological red flags. Tbh who cares though, he's probably just introverted and not good at expressing himself. When you're 7'3" and sudo he's probably faced a fair bit of discrimination which can help make someone that way. Once he opens up I bet he's a great guy and loves the game etc... after all his dad was one of the greatest human beings and humanitarians to grace us. :) Really rooting for him.

if that's the case then that's a problem, we'll see. kid could just be an awkward dude (and he probably is).
