He is making less than we would have had to pay Holmes and he is better overall. Think of him as a holmes replacement for 5 mil.

Holmes wouldn't make that much, but he only counted $1.6 against the cap. This guy counts $5.5. So we lose almost $4 million in cap space having him over Holmes this year.

A little positive on this dark evening. Good write up on Jerome. I do like that he can bring shooting and IQ two things this team absolutely needed.

My guy PJ Washington was also on this list had they taken him at 11 I would have considered this a good draft.

https://www.theringer.com/nba-draft/2019/6/19/18684386/nba-draft-2019-chris-vernon-prospects

From Chris Vernon:

Jerome is the best example of why I keep this list. Every single NBA exec, scout, college coach, media member, animal, and grandmother whom I talked to lovedTy Jerome. So what the hell is going on? How on earth are there going to be 20-plus guys drafted ahead of Ty Jerome? It is ridiculous. He’s tall, he’s tough, and he has off-the-charts basketball IQ. He is a bona fide winner, a leader, and a big-time competitor. Your team will screw up in the draft because they look at Ty Jerome and concede that he’s good, but then end up gushing over a 19-year-old who was worthless in college and wondering what that kid is gonna look like when he is 22. The answer, 95 percent of the time, will be: not as good as Ty Jerome. Earlier this month, Jerome shot 100 3s at a Celtics workout, and he hit 84 of them. Of course he did. Everyone seems to agree that Jerome is good, that he is going to be good, and that he will go too low. It is appalling. I’m appalled.

So stoked we got Jerome. Was my 2nd favorite player in the draft outside of Zion.

Definitely like this pickup. Don't let the 5.5 assists per game fool you, Virginia was one of the slowest pace teams in the league. If he gets minutes and can get his body closer to nba-level passable athleticism, I expect this to help Ayton out quite a bit.

At the very least, we now have one more guy capable of throwing a simple post pass.

I can't get over how slow and unathletic this guy is. Hopefully he turns out better than our last several PG prospects in recent years.

Well, he's not going to be a starting PG in the NBA. I think he's going to be a Van Vleet or maybe Satoransky level back-up Pg, which frankly is a very decent outcome.

Kid has good size, shoots well, has outstanding basketball IQ and is a national champion. I think he'd be very good running the second unit, and a major upgrade on Okobo and Melton.

31.5 inch vertical. Not completely terrible at 6’6.

Satoransky is a great comp - though he has sneaky hops. Grievis Vasquez had a good long career as a slow but big PG, and Jerome is a better shooter than he was.

Don’t hate it, but would have preferred Clarke there 100%.

Reminds me a bit of Doncic's craftiness and ability to go to any place on the court he likes despite not being the fastest or most athletic guy on the floor. Appears a better playmaker than Johnson already.

Clearly the best play-maker on the team right now, which is not saying much unfortunately.
