He will forever be known as the guy Ainge swindled Brand for. He is Brand’s Elfrid Payton.

I've had to travel so much this month I haven't been able to lose myself in obsessing over each prospect like I normally would. Draft Day to me is the grandest holiday of the year and I'm watching this year's draft from the Portland airport (and in classic sixers fan fashion got here just in time for the 25th pick...)

Honestly don't know much about Thybulle. My YouTube mixtape first impression is he reminds me of Sefolosha.

I really like him for this team, think he'll be a real help.

At the same time, this wasn't exactly hard to predict:

Feel like it will come out a week from now that we promised Thybulle at the combine. He fits the profile of what Brand is looking for perfectly, and if his agent has a clue he should realize it's just about the ideal situation for his client. It makes so much sense that the lack of public connection between the two sides is fishy.

Forgot about that. Good call on your part. Mine too I suppose.

Cannot have enough wings who can defend. Shot release looks like Danny Green

Player looks good. Everything else about today... Not so much. But the most important part is picking a good player, and if Thybulle works out the overall draft grade can't be lower than a B, despite the rest of it.

I am totally fine with the pick. Our biggest gripe all year was the Sixers getting SMOKED by guards. Inserting Zhaire and Matisse is going to vastly improve on that front.

As for the shooting, let's wait and see how their shots look now that we hired a new shooting coach who comes from a legendary program known for teaching players to learn how to shoot.

I would have preferred Ty Jerome & Carsen Edwards, but I hope Matisse proves me wrong.

I actually wanted us to pick this guy and happy we got him.
Wish we traded our OKC 1st to Brooklyn and got Kabengele instead of the Clippers and then I would have been even happier.
Hopefully Brand manages to pick up free agents Mudiay and Vonleh instead of TJ and Amir.

Can anyone tell me how bad is he on offense? He doesnt get to the FT line much nor does he take a lot of shots. Specially for an NCAA senior.

Draft profile strengths/weaknesses reads a lot like Roco, just a bit smaller. Hopefully he can shut down the guards that torched the Sixers this year.

In the last years Thybulle showed some very sporadic moves that indicated some sneaky upside in his dribble drive game. However, when you're not able to show it as a senior on a regular basis then it's probably fool's gold.

His anticipations skills are elite, combined with his long wingspan and decent athleticism he will create a lot of deflections.

I like Matisse Thyblle. However trading up is a no-go for me, since I'd rather take a bet on two guys in this range than one.

my #1 target at #24. would've been intrigued by nassir little. but thybulle projects as a great system player. while nassir has a lot of jaylen brown in him. and even then we'd have to wait on it.

clincher for me is that we clearly didnt like anyone special at 33 or 34 anyway. and after watching shayok's tape, i cant say any wing at the top of the 2nd round is clearly better than him.

my only issue is missing daniel gafford. we absolutely must get a backup five with the mle. thomas bryant jr.!

I'm fine with the pick. My preference would have been to hold tight and take whoever was available at #24 and I wanted to take someone with more upside like Kevin Porter Jr. However, 2 things have become clear: We were never using picks 33 and 34 and Brand really wanted Thybulle.

He seems like a great kid and I'm definitely rooting for him. Won't have a negative thing to say about him until he gives me a reason to. Hopefully between him and Zhaire we can finally lock down the Spencer Dinwiddies of the world.

Best defender in the world already :D
