Hes going to be Paul Millsap in 3 years. I think thats a steal at 12.

You had me until the “if he converts to a wing” part.

I'm pretty sure Washington didn't work out with anyone because of the injury he had at the end of the season.

I honestly think that Bacon can be the shooting guard. I like the PJ Washington pick, I think “safe with a lot of upside” was an apt description.

Is this a joke or are you serious?

I’ve noticed that over the past few months as well.
I guess Siakam is the “in” thing these days. Every man and his dog is being compared to him.

Washington dominated Grant Williams in their head to head this year. There's definitely a lot to like about him.
I've also seen draft guys say he's better suited to play the 3 than the 4. And PJ himself said he can do a lot more on the wing that he didn't get to show at Kentucky.

This is a great article on PJ:

I LOVE players that can pass the ball, especially bigger guys.

Personally, I see P.J. Washington more in the mode of David West. West was not very tall for a power forward, but West also had a very long wingspan (7-foot-4) and good bulk.
Kevin Johnson isn't "Michael Jordan" famous ... he's "Mitch Richmond" famous

Washington also improved a ton from his freshman year to sophomore year...he added a 3 point shot and got way better at defense. He's a quick learner. He has the personality and length to be a monster player. Excited to see what he can do in SL and next season.
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles

I think David West is both fair and interesting.

I like the Paul Milsap comparison someone made last night.
I think if you are more than slightly disappointed/underwhelmed with PJ then your expectations were probably too high for this draft to begin with.

And West played angry while being both productive AND physically imposing.

Such a good point.
Picking 12th isn’t like picking top 3 or even top 5.
Expectations need to be relative to drafting position and if we got a well rounded 7+ year productive pro at 12 that’s pretty solid.

Re: Welcome to Charlotte: PJ Washington
Admittedly he wasn't one I spent a ton of time on, though most reviews seem positive. Most interesting is there seems to be a split between his role being as a lanky, Paul George-esque wing vs. a Millsap-ian big.
Already a different NBA though than when the likes of West and Landry came up. As the line between 3 and 4 continues to blur - and lineups continue to get smaller - I guess it makes sense though. It's certainly fun to think about he and Miles switching at the forward spots.

This draft specifically was also especially volatile with lots of very flawed prospects and we still came out at 12 with a guy that multiple reputable draft experts view as one of the steals of the draft.
Sekou Doumbouya is the only player that was available that I would say clearly has a higher ceiling thank PJ, but its probably not even by that much, if any, and PJ's floor is arguably higher than anyone in the draft not named Zion or Jah.

have been looking at his aau stuff and he looks like he has some handles- I do see him as more of a 4/5 but I wonder if he can develop perimeter skills (his passing looks like a plus). I like Miles and him together

Re: Welcome to Charlotte: PJ Washington
PJ can play the 3, 4, or 5 depending on who he's sharing the floor with. Today's NBA is all about guys like him with positional versatility.
Heck, all 3 of the guys we drafted have positional versatility. I'm starting to think that Mitch understands the modern game more than we give him credit for.
