It happens like that a lot. MJ's draft always comes to mind in instances like this. Hoping you're right.

I don't think there is much that can limit Zion. He looks like he could be unstoppable. But I've never seem a full sized linebacker play at the highest level in the NBA so it is probably does come down to whether or not Zion can stay healthy.

But even if both excel, RJ might be on track to becoming the more well-rounded player.

for me- you can see that RJ is going to thrive here...he strikes me as a fearless leader and he seems to have this
demeanor that his work ethic level could evolve to that of kobe levels...Look at how comfortable he is in front of the media...
then I look at his dad and how he grew up in a professional basketball environment-I like the karma of Ewing
representing us in the draft and ushering him in figuratively...how about Perry turning down all offers and being excited and sticking with him...theres more but I'll stop here...this just smells likes us wining this entire draft to me...

That and how calm, cool and collected he seemed under the spotlight. Bodes well.

Seeing a kid that young act that naturally and yet mature at the same time in front of media was very cool to see

I don't want us to put added pressure (the media will do a fine job of this) on this kid but you can tell he's different... He's that Alpha that others will WANT to play with and will be attracted to. I'm thinking his 2nd year is going to be really good.

It does feel good. He has that aura and it will rub off on the ones who are ready to be led. Those who don't want to follow will get left behind.

As far as pro bb pedigrees, it does matter. It doesn't always translate, but when it does it is a big edge. Steph grew up in the NBA and it clearly shaped him as a person and a player.

I think the Euros that come from pro hoops families benefit most of the time, but it doesn't seem to have helped KP keep his head straight. Gallinari seems like a level headed dude.

But I think the North American basketball pedigree might prepare you more for the NBA and RJ is basically the Prince of Canadian Basketball at this time. He has been groomed for this for a long time

He might be the perfect teammate for Knox who can learn a great deal from a guy like RJ

Yeah, like he still had that youthful playfulness "Yo, I'm a Knick!" while being very level headed and grounded.

RJ is an alpha. He's not scared of anything or anyone. He's got the right mindset for this town.

The selling point on RJ is his mental, character & pedigree. Even if there are some flaws on the tape, a good portion of this game is decided mentally, & that’s RJ’s selling point, so he’s going to be an easy play to root for and one I still have high hopes for.

I know Nash is consulting the Warriors in player development (you can see the snap passes on their offense that Nash is famous for), but it would be nice for him to come to the Knicks as an assistant.

I have no idea if Nash wants to be a coach

Consulting sounds like just a side gig for Nash

But I guess he can come and do a consultation

I don't think RJ will be the savior of the franchise. It's still a process. I think he's a #6 pick in a better draft. I'm happy we got him though. We'll need another tank year or two to get some other guys around him. And I'm happy he wants to be here, and for the first time (I'm not joking), I heard 100% cheers from the fans. Do we finally have our golden boy?

As far as Zion, I don't think he would have been the savior either. I had some concerns about his weight and injury issues. With that physique and athleticism, he could take the NBA by storm and be something the league has never seen. Or there's a chance it could be a story of what could have been. Don't get me wrong, I would have taken him at #1 lol. I'm just saying there was concerns with him too.

Yao Ming was literally too big for his feet to handle the load. I'm thinking Zion's explosiveness is going to put such G-Force on his lower body that he might develop structural foundation issues as well. He is an anomaly. It is one thing for MJ or Dr. J to take off from the foul line and slam dunk the ball, but they are gliders with sinewy and relatively svelte frames.

Zion is a freight train and the load he carries may end up being too much to physically bear long-term in the NBA. He really is built like a linebacker and those guys don't vault and leap five feet in the air; they grind at ground level. That is the body type Zion has so we'll just have to wait and see.

Joe Benigno never disappoints.

The show just started and he's already complaining about Barrett having the #19 jersey which represents the year the draft took place, and saying it's disrespectful he was given a jersey with Willis Reed's number.
