Some draft grades.

CBS
3. New York Knicks: SG RJ Barrett, Duke
I'm going to keep this simple: When you make the pick you're supposed to make, the pick that is the best option, I'm going to give it an A. I think Barrett is quite clearly at least the third-best prospect in this draft. And let's not forget: He was the No. 1 prospect for this draft at this time a year ago.
Grade: A

47. Sacramento Kings (from Orlando via New York): SF Ignas Brazdeikis, Michigan
Sacramento made this pick and agreed to trade him to New York, giving the Knicks their second one-and-done player in this draft. Brazdeikis is a hard-nosed, competitive forward who has intriguing upside as a floor-spacer after shooting 39.2 percent from 3 last season. Grade: B

Ringer

3. New York Knicks: R.J. Barrett, F, Duke

Barrett could determine how we’ll remember this draft. He was widely seen as the favorite to be the no. 1 overall pick coming into the season, but he was eclipsed on his own team by Zion. His shoot-first, ask-questions-later style may have allowed him to rack up big counting stats at Duke, but it didn’t really contribute to winning. Talent isn’t the issue for Barrett. He’s a 6-foot-7 wing with the athleticism to get where he wants to go on the court, and he has shown the ability to make every pass in the book. The issue is more how he’ll affect the players around him. Will he move the ball enough to make his teammates better when he’s on the ball, and will he shoot well enough to space the floor when he’s off it?

Grade: B

B/R
New York Knicks (B+): G/F RJ Barrett (3), F Ignas Brazdeikis (47)

SI

3. NEW YORK KNICKS: R.J. BARRETT, G, DUKE

Barrett is generally considered to be the third-best prospect in the draft, and his scoring ability makes a lot of sense for the Knicks, who continue to accumulate talent in the interim while also angling to recruit star free agents. Barrett makes a good deal of sense situationally, and could immediately be New York’s most valuable young player. The Knicks need someone to score the ball, and can give Barrett time to play through his mistakes. If they don’t bring in any top talent this summer, it could be a long year ahead, but Barrett fits what they need long-term. If he can mature as a decision-maker and expand his skill set offensively, New York should ultimately be happy with this choice.
Grade: A

i love when people try to act like someone being the next carmelo is bad. do you know how rare it is to draft someone as good as a prime carmelo ?

Even getting someone as good as Melo was his first 3 years is a good draft pick, even with the many flaws.

Skip was trashing Kawhi after game 5. Whatever little credibility he had should have been eradicated after that.

He should lose all his credibility after his Kawhi fiasco. He's done so many mental gymnastics to not give Kawhi any credit for proving him wrong. Skip just looks extremely un-professional by continuously harping on the fact that Kawhi left his Spurs.

Yep. He blamed Kawhi for the meltdown and highlighted how Klay Steph did to close the game, ignoring that kawhi went on his own run to put TOR in position to win the game.

Better family, better character, more competitiveness. Just not so ungodly tall - maybe he won't fall apart that fast, either.

Rick Brunson, Jared Jeffries, Prigioni and Kyle O'Quinn wore #9. Safe to say Barrett will be the best of that bunch!

Brazzy sitting up there looks like Porzingis with some freaking guts and heart. His haircut looks insane too, which I always look for in Euros.

Thanks and congratulations on the championship.

I hope that we are the team that is chosen to play you guys on the Raptors’ ring ceremony.

Am sure it would mean a lot for RJ and Ignas to play their first road game in Toronto.

Something seems off about free agency maybe. I didn't like the body language or tone there.
