Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
Unless I misunderstood if the Sixers signed a max FA because Butler and/or Harris left that would mean the MLE the Sixers could offer would be a 2 year deal starting around 4.7m
But if the Sixers stay over the cap(currently their salaries plus cap holds have them at least $30m over) they could use an MLE that starts at over $9m for up to 4 years.

Correct.

I know you have been reminding of the advantages of operating above the cap; however, what about the suggestions of renouncing everyone except JJ and Tobias, and signing DLo? Seems to be possible capwise, and something I think makes basketball sense. Not sure what JJ would accept to re-sign. However, it seems to work cap wise as far as the major pieces.
I have no clue if DLo would have interest in us, but so much talk in this thread, I think it’s an interesting discussion. Just do to age and size of their max deals, considering DLo in place of Butler makes a lot of sense.
Yes, that's possible cap wise. I'm guessing we're assuming he's been renounced for this conversation because blowing up your team to go after an RFA is an issue in its own right. The problem is that the people advocating for swapping Butler for DLO are then ignoring the related consequences of that swap like proposing adding Aminu, Scott and the MLE on top of that which is impossible.
The other problem with a DLO for Butler swap is our starting lineup is now comprised of 3 below average defenders.
If you signed Russell to the max and renounced everyone but Tobias, you'd have a little over 12M in cap space. I'm not convinced bringing JJ makes a ton of sense in that scenario given the defensive issues that you mentioned.
With that 12M and the room exception you could put a decent roster together around those 4 guys. Not nearly as well as you could with running it back, but it's a pretty good fall back.

I don't even understand why the Rockets want him so badly. Butler fits with neither Harden nor Paul and there's already tension within the team. He also philosophically does not fit with high level offense with low emphasis on defense.

If Tyler Johnson ends up getting stretched, I'd have interest in him as a combo guard/shooter off the bench.

Rockets are already in "ef it" mode. I guess they figure they'll just try to stack the star math and push their way through to the Finals even if it doesn't make sense on or off the court.

Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
Patrick Beverley
Darren Collison
George Hill
Cory Joseph
Seth Curry(didn't know he was a FA, but saw him listed)
Markeiff Morris
Dewayne Dedmon
Noah Vonleh
Wesley Matthews
Rudy Gay
DeMarre Carroll
Garrett Temple
Wayne Ellington
Likely too expensive, but will list anyway:
Marcus Morris
Terrence Ross
All guys I'm very interested in with the money we'll have after keeping our own

Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
I think someone will overpay for Dedmon and offer him a starting gig. Same for Beverley (pretty sure the Lakers will be begging him to come).
Curry is interesting as he seems to be a better defender than I thought. Hill had a nice resurgence for the Bucks. Corey Joseph has been an almost Sixer for his whole damn career lol. I could see someone overypaying Vonleh but he is the perfect target. Carroll, Mathews, Ellington and Gay are washed imo.
But yeah that seems to be the list tho.

The DLo discussion is interesting. I have been a big proponent of him for a while (**** YOU LAKERS) but if we bring him in, I think we should either let JJ go...or bring him off the bench. Can't see that backcourt working defensively.

Zach Lowe on his podcast made it seem like both Dedmon and Beverly are getting well above the mid level. Threw out 15 as a number for Beverly.

People watched Russell get taken out of that Nets series by Ben right?

Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
Bev could, but I’d be stunned if Dedmon got 10+m that’s absurd.
I’ve long wanted Bev so I’m just gonna tell myself he won’t get as much, the dream will never die.
Howard Eskin reporting the Sixers will target Danny Green.

To be fair, one could point to Ben's performances against Boston and Toronto in the playoffs as reasons he hasn't arrived yet either.

What does that mean? I saw Jimmy Butler get completely shut down by Kawhi Leonard any time the Raptors felt like taking him out of the game. That's what happens to 3rd tier stars against All-NBA level defenders

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

If the 76ers sign D'Lo, I'd probably have to let Redick go.

I could definitely see the Suns throwing the same deal they gave Ariza at Beverley. Being that he's made about 25M total in his career, he's probably a guy that should opt for the most money over playing for a contender (unless the numbers are close)

Butler had an amazing series against the eventually nba champs. Russell threw some floaters in against bad teams for a few months. Don’t be fooled.
I like Russell for some team but I think he’s getting overhyped on a good regular season.

His efficiency was garbage, but 19 a game as a 22 year old in his first playoff series is fine, to me.
My issue with Dlo is his unwillingness to take it to the rim.

Im just saying, people are acting like this guy is a clear upgrade from what we’ve got. He’s only good at scoring and his only opportunity to perform in the playoffs he got shut down. Ben gets shut down in half court at least he’s playing defense.
Russell has some immaturity and you replace Butler or Harris with him and the team becomes much softer. This team has a real identity and this would be going away from it.
