I'm kinda liking the Roby pick. Means that the Mavs can throw Justin Jackson into a trade and/or let DFS go. I think Roby can be a rim runner type of player too for sure.

Re: Mavs 2019 Draft discussion
Watching Naz Reid highlights and wondering why the Mavs didn't want to take a flier on this guy? I understand that Roby was higher on their list, but they should have tried to trade back into the 2nd round to draft Reid.
Not a very good defender, sure, but he can play the run-rimming role, and he can also do things like post-up, post-spin, catch and shoot, handle the ball a little, and dish it out a little too.

Roby seems like the better pick though tbh.

Re: Mavs 2019 Draft discussion
of the SL invitee, this kid is interesting:
- unlimited range
- quick release
- 2P% 53%
- 3P% 34% (career number; not as good when attempted more last season)
- fairly athletic
- quick but not extremely quick first step
- skinny frame but still be able to convert a lot of layups or floaters in paint
- jump into passing lanes a lot with forces a lot of turnovers
There's a chance that this kid gets invited as 2-way candidate if beaten Macan in upcoming SL.
Few things to watch with
- 3P% and shot selection
- convert shots or draws foul in paint
- intangibles (work ethics, passion, leadership)
- ability to bulk up and improve quickness and jumping
- zone / man defense
- limiting TOs

This kid looks quick and smart. I wonder if things look the same against non-Asian players, though. But shooting performance is consistently bad. Don't think this kid makes the team without a good 3P% and FT%.

Former OKC first, Cameron Payne is also in play. Payne has solid number during 9 games with Cavs. It seems to me that Cameron can only fit in under certain system. We'll see.

Re: Mavs 2019 Draft discussion
I expect ugly games afterall. With the roster set, the spacing could be an issue. There's no capable shooters in mix. It's a big test to Kosta as well. With limited spacing and being the most important archor, how does Kosta reponse to the challenge. Roby and Reaves are fighting for a hustling role as well. This roster is in general a little too old with not much shooting to offer. Do the Mavs plan to play with Brunson?

C - Kostas
PF - Roby
SF - Reaves
SG - Macon / Stephen
PG - Payne / Brunson / Yudai
Undersized basketball is coming to SL. It's a big test to both Roby and Kostas defensively. Also a big test to whoever in the backcourt. We could see how the new draftees / signees response to challenge guarding multiple positions. Stamina is also a test to frontcourt players without much depth.

I like it for the SL, but honestly, I'd like to see how Roby, Reaves, and Kostas play at their more natural positions. Macon is fine at either the 2 or 1 though.
