just watched his two games against kansas (21 & 24), his highlight reel, plus his "spring workout mix": not only can he shoot, this guy has a very nice handle. skill set does not take a backseat to those drafted above him. that #3 is a tribute to iverson, i'll bet. i like it.

He's the closest thing to a scorer we've added in the last two drafts. He popped as and old senior, though. Was a JAG at Virginia.

seems like a good shooter & scorer with the length to develop into a good defender. solid pick.

This is the only pick I like, looks fluid when moving/creating, I see something.

He seemed like an UDFA to me, then again, a lot of the guys I loved in this draft ended up undrafted.

I think he's a better defender then what people realize, he played at UVA for 3 years up untl this year UVA really play a slow pace defensive type of game. I'm sure he understands the value of defense. I seen him play in the ACC numerous times never knew he could shoot transferring helped his draft stock. He had Sixteen 20, point scoring games.

I recognized the name because his father played for the Dayton Flyers in the early 90s, but I know nothing about Marial. Looks like he's a great shooter.

Re: Welcome Marial Shayok!
Watching the video, I have to ask - did Marial decide to go with "shay-ock" as the pronunciation of his last name? Or was that just the announcer? Because his dad pronounced it "she-ock".

Honestly, dude kinda reminds me of Shake Milton.
Kind of a Shake+Ennis mash up in 1.

The best part of picking Marial Shayok is that he's not Cam Johnson in the first round. His lack of athleticism concerns me, especially on defense. His offensive numbers are impressive though.

Agreed. Im not sure i've ever seen him dunk the ball in game. Doubt he can beat out Shake for the scoring guard role off the bench, but I guess we shall see. Am looking forward to seeing him in SL.
At the end of the day, if he competes on D and can make shots....he will have exceeded my expectations.

I think he's a solid defender I remember him a UVA his first 3 years. UVA plays great defense he was a key member on that team. He might not be a lockdown defender but he gives effort and I'm sure he understands defensive concepts

Re: Welcome Marial Shayok!
digging into him to try and find some positives.....
Seems like he tore up Portsmouth dropping nearly 40 and leading his team in the clutch to OT and a W.
He also worked out and trained in LA with Chris Johnson, who happens to be Jimmy Butlers personal trainer and the guy who apparently will be working with Ben Simmons this offseason.

Re: Welcome Marial Shayok!
Shayok isn't all that different from where Josh Richardson was as a prospect. There's slight variance in their game in that Marial was a little better scorer and Josh was a noticeably better defender.
The similarities are that both are the same size. Both are pretty good on both ends. Both have upside due to their displayed creating and scoring potential.

Exactly. That's the bright side of this draft for me. This is why you don't take a player like Cam Johnson in the 1st. The 76ers probably got his equal with a pick in the 50's. If anything, Shaylok seems to be a more coordinated athlete

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

But watch clueless Brett not giving him a proper chance and misusing him.
