16 years after the pick was made, with the guys we could have grabbed instead either retired or otherwise out of the league, and that jab still hits just the right spot.

When is the last time we drafted someone with this kind of athleticism and potential? We never get good enough draft picks to ever get the super high potential prospects. Man if we can somehow get lucky and this kid develops into a star it will make the post Blake Griffin/Andre Drummond era so much better and make a rebuild much easier.

Yeah, it’s cool. I think the earlier posts calling for folks to temper their expectations are spot on though. Don’t want anyone flipping out when the kid isn’t getting 20 mpg right out of the shoot.

I doubt he's the best player in the draft, but he has top 3 potential. Of course, he's go "total bust" potential as well. I personally think he's going to end up a heck of a player for us and will get 20 minutes. That's right in the range of our bench guys last year. It's not like we want to play snell 30+ mpg or something.

Thats not true- -- Drummond was a huge project and extremely raw when he come into the NBA in after spending 1yr at UConn.

that's why he was drafted 9th by Dumars.

But he has really developed over the past 5 years. He's a great player, he's just overpaid in today's NBA.

But then again look at Al Horford opting out of his deal to chase a bigger payday with the Celtics and maybe Andre's contract isn't so bad for a high production centre.

Unfortunately, Dre really hasn't developed much. We limited his minutes his rookie year, but once he got on the court he was an instant 13/13. He's up slightly from that, but besides for his free throw improvement, he's got pretty much the same weaknesses and strengths that he did 5 years ago. He really needs to make some defensive progress if he's ever going to be part of a good team.
