Re: Official Frank Ntilikina Thread
Come on now people. Saying playing in summer league hurts players in their time in the NBA is ridiculous. The only thing i could get behind is the obvious which is that they're risking injury, but to say that it hurts them for their time in the NBA is crazy and to use any player that hasn't been good in the NBA as an example is also ridiculous. These kids have been playing organized basketball, backyard basketball and basketball at parks their whole lives so i don't think playing summer league for a few games is gonna hurt their NBA careers. They can either play in the NBA and be bad, average, good or great and they'll be that whether they play in the SL or not.

I expect the Knicks to announce they aren't picking up his 4th year option very early next season and play him very sparingly all year so he doesn't take minutes from players the Knicks still see as part of the future, and he will become a free agent next summer. But I think some team might take a shot on him as a 1 year deal reclamation project for 2020-2021 and give him one more shot to make it in the league. I still think the Knicks should kick the tires on him in year 3 and give it one more try but I don't expect it
But you know that if he had been drafted by some other team and was in that situation, Perry and Fizdale would be all over acquiring him and "getting him right."
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

I think it has more to do with fit than Phil. Didn’t Dotson and Kornet come through Phil? They fit what they are trying to do more so than Frank. Frank has to grow and adjust to their style of play. I really hope they just accept Frank for what he does and play him to his strengths. He’s not an aggressive penetrating point guard that pushes the pace.
JUST PLAY THE KIDS ALREADY!!!!!

I think its not because of his lack of talent, its his 4.8m salary. Teams dont want to reduce their cap and hand the Knicks another 5m straight before FA starts.
I think after the first week of FAs there are going to be some offers. I still think the Mavs would trade for him after they blew their cap space. And would send an own 2nd or both of the 2nds they picked up during draft night (Blazers and Bucks).
But i think Frank wont be with the Knicks when the seasons starts.

can we get this Frank pls? I think part of the problem with Frank is confidence; he seems way more confident/decisive when he was playing with the French U18 than he was with Strasbourg or here
This reminds me why when he was drafted I was like .... Cool the knicks got a SG prospect to put next to Courtney...... Then they paid Timmy and I was like "why draft a SG, and then get one in FA, when you already had a starting quality SG on the roster?"
Like really watch this video and tell me that Frank isn't basically playing as a D&3 SG most of the video. His passing ability should be a secondary skill he uses when guys guard him to close and he drives and kick out. I think I saw less than 3 set PnR plays.

And this is why I always felt Mills was the bigger impediment to Frank's development than Hornacek or Fiz. Really wish Timmy had never been signed. Terrible move in more ways than one.

I think they began to move Frank away from the point next year, then once they got DSJ it was like "OK you're a SG"
All his recent videos show him prepping for a D&3 position.

Drafted young player as a 3-4 year project. Give up on player year 2. Winning.

the problem is, Frank was taken too high. If he were a 2nd round pick (which is probably where he belonged) no one would care.

This is known as the sunk cost fallacy. His draft position should not be a factor.

Disappointed Ntilikina isn't playing in SL. If anyone needs it, it's him.

I don't see how SL is better than international play, TBHBeagleBoss wrote:Disappointed Ntilikina isn't playing in SL. If anyone needs it, it's him.
It's basically a glorified pickup game.

The more reps he can get the better screw international play his first option is what the knicks front office want him to do. He is under contract for the knicks not for international play so his first obligation should be the knicks because they pay him.

ok I will play...
how do you know the knicks would rather him play in SL over international play (better competition/more structured play).

He is making 4.9 million dollars next season for scoring 5.7 points game and shooting 34 percent last 2 years and he needs to get better. So playing summer league is a must for frank how do we know if has worked on his game these past couple month so should knicks wait until october to see frank get better. He can still do both summer league and international play but i don't think the knicks care that much so they will let frank play for france. Rj barret said about playing for team canada he will have to ask the knicks if he can play for his country this summer.
