this was a damn good get. no need to downplay zion. it went how it went. but RJ is very exciting and a perfect fit, IMO.

no way the ownership group of the league said, "give zion williamson to the new orleans pelicans." i don't even understand how that benefits the league as a whole.

Makes it easier to move the team to Seattle.

RJ could easily have the better, longer career. He has the full package, the desire, that mamba mentality. He’s going to be great.

Remember the contingent of fans saying how fortunate we were to land the 3rd pick at the lotto? Can you imagine having been 4th this whole time? Even the anti-RJ people would have started getting a little Barrett envy.

Think about it this way...The league is bigger than the owners (they replaced the clippers owner)and I think the AD situation- compounded by the fact that NO had the worse attendance/viewership (forgot) in the entire league...It was a perfect opportunity
for the "NBA" to fix it... and they gave the Grizz dem a likkle piece of thee oxtail

oxtail gravy.

the league is bigger than any one owner. but it's the group of owners that collectively make league decisions. so gayle would either have to have a lot of pull, or like you say, the whole group of owners would need to feel like they need to save NO at the expense of the lottery process.

sounds wild that they would do that for this draft... or for all drafts. and is this how you would feel had the knicks won the lottery?

I'm watching First Take right now and they have Trae Young on for a interview and he can barely speak in complete sentences. Comparing that to how RJ has handled himself in interviews it's like night and day. We've got a real smart and capable kid on our hands. Hopefully he's got the talent to back that up.

I get that - it feels like a lot to orchestrate...I just think it's about an understanding that is pre-existing...almost like
hazing...when you first join- you are told the rules- your are programmed and understand that this is what comes with being an owner...again, I don't know the process- I just know that that there is no such thing as coincidences...ancient universal law...
salute and respect to you...

I think Trae's a smart dude but also an awkward dude with a speech impediment. Not unlike Mitch. Trae could be a basketball genius so I wouldn't just dismiss him based on his interviews. Even though that First Take segment seemed kinda pointless, I'll give you that.

But I agree RJ is really smart and well-spoken. He has all the tools to succeed, hopefully he knows that the Mamba Mentality is not just about being competitive on the court but also about working harder than the rest.

I'm team RJ all the way, don't get me wrong.

i'm so amped about this kid, i've been watching nonstop highlights.

also i was talking to someone about him and he mentioned the same thing i mentioned, look at his body ... he's 19 and has a mans body that still isn't done growing. compare him to knox or even robinson, it's absurd how he's big he is ... playing with zion took attention off rj barrett in so many ways.

he very well could be kawhi out there being a 230 pound wing.
LOL Y U MAD THO?

RJ Barrett is going to be an amazing leader. Hopefully, for the knicks, they don't have any toxic players/staff that mess things up.

if they don't sign a top free agent, which i now hope they don't, i think the team has already showed hints that they want him to be the leader of this young team.

they didn't even do the introduction for kristaps, pills truly like the talent but more importantly the makeup of rj barrett.

He led our U19 team to a gold medal win a couple of years ago. That was amazing... something Wiggins never wanted to do. I am glad he didn't go #1 I think there is way too much pressure going #1 especially if it's a big market team. I will definitely be watching more Knicks games this year.

The pressure on RJ is not less at # 3.

He is probably the face of the Knicks now if he delivers on his promise.

A Knicks team that starts to win again brings far more intensity into your life than playing in NO as the # 1 pick does.
