When Jabari arrived on the DC scene in February he had 9 assists in his first game as a Zard. Brooks saw it as a sign that Parker could be a reliable ballhandler and passer, and encouraged him to do more of it. That was a mistake. Jabari began to take his role as a primary playmaker a little too seriously, leading to far too many bad passes and bad decisions.
If Parker is encouraged to do what he does best—attack the rim and score—and to worry less about getting teammates involved, his TO numbers will go down

prime1time wrote:All very good questions. Jabari needs good coaching. Right now I feel like teams just do whatever he wants. Someone needs to give him structure. Rui's game and his game significantly overlap but Jabari is a solid player and you can never have enough. I'd welcome Jabari back with open arms. I can see lineups with Jabari and Rui on the floor at the same time being particularly lethal.
Now for your specific questions.
Should they resign him? Yes
As for how much I'd think 2 year 20-24 million.
As for how impacts the rest of the roster - It simply doesn't make much sense to let good players walk away. Now that doesn't mean you overpay, but for someone like Jabari who, this last season, was completely taken out of the rotation in Chicago, I think he should stay in DC. He played well for us.
But the most important question is how does he impact Rui. I think having Jabari on the team will be good for both players. They play similarly and have similar physical dimensions so they can get after it in practice and make each other better. Knowing how coach Brooks like to bring rookies along slowly, I struggle to see how we have enough scoring to put an NBA caliber team on the floor without resigning him. In terms of the on floor dynamics I think it could work really well. With both Rui and Jabari's ability to grab the rebound and lead the break, we could create a lot of advantageous situations in terms of crossmatches. When teams go small, we could have Rui and Jabari at the 4 and the 5 and now we have players who can attack the hoop with force versus a team that doesn't have any rim protection.
Also, as a personal preference, I love having players that can score and create for others. It allows you to punish teams that have non-defenders on the floor. I'd also love if Jabari created more and looked to score less. No reason why he can't average 5 assists a game imo. So yes, I'd bring him back.
Very good post i agree

I want to resign Jabari. He's aggressive and you can tell he's talented. We don't have cap space, so to me, we might as well take a chance on Jabari being our own version of Jamal Crawford in terms of a bench scorer.
