We should have traded for him instead.

tobias is better fit.

This team needs to pair Butler and Biid. Then when both Butler and Biid sits, we need someone who can create on offense.

When all our starters are on the court, sure porter is better. But its not our starting unit that is the problem. Its the Embiid off court and Ben on court unit. We need a PnR playmaker like Tobias who can also be elite spot up shooter on our 5 man unit, then bolster up our defense like Thybulle, zhaire, Ben plus a dedmon to surround Ben with in that 5 man non Embiid unit.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I think trading for Porter would have enabled us to keep Chandler and Shamet plus the Miami Pick.
I think Fultz/Muscala and our pick would have been enough or maybe swap the Miami pick with ours.
We could have gone after kanter and I honestly think we would have been better off.

Who then would be your PnR scorer+elite spot up shooter when Butler and Biid sits to spread our starters with our 5 man units?

I dont look at it as Porter > Tobias. I look at it as Tobias+Ben is better than Porter+Ben.

Sure i dont have to pay much for Porter. I dont think that the assets I saved for not overpaying is good enough to get me a difference maker.

Jazz and Pacers were other options but they’re probably out too.

Utah can only get to $27.8 million. Someone is indicating that if the order of operations is changed on the Conley trade we can have $32.8, but I honestly think they forgot about minimum roster charges. I do think Harris would turn down a 5 year max, though, cause he'd make more on a 1+1 and then a 10 year vet max. Interested to see how it plays out. I think Utah is likely out, but if Philly doesn't offer a full max or won't do a 1+1 I'm obviously hoping Utah can get him, lol.

If korver gets bought out by Memphis, is it worth signing him up?

Wasn't Porter shooting close to 50% after the trade and Shamet was shooting 40%
Wilson Chandler was starting to get comfortable in the offense also.
Maybe you're right I'm hoping We keep Harris at slightly below max with a player option if he wants then go after Horford and the Morris Twins whilst keeping JJ Redick which would be possible if We renounce Butler and pay Harris a little less if I'm not mistaken
Simmons/JJ/Harris/Horford/Embiid 1st
Simmons/Thybulle or Smith/Harris/Morris/Horford 2nd
Milton or TJ/JJ/Morris/Morris/Embiid 3rd
So take Embiid and JJ out to rest whilst bringing Morris and one of our wing defenders
then bring them back in whilst bringing in another ball handler and keep Morris in resting Ben/Harris/Horford

It would be worth it, but I'd put a lot of money on him signing with the Lakers this year.

Anyone follow Micic overseas? He's 25 now... any chance of him being able to hack it in this league?

I think I remember his contract situation making it unlikely coming over would be an option this year.

I love how teams that are so far over the cap are interested in Jimmy. Either his agent is very good and has some surprise offer out there or his only real option is Philly and they are trying to put pressure on Sixers

They'd need us to do them a favor to get that to work.

If there was some way that we could get Josh Richardson and no other salary back (would require a 3rd team to eat a contract), we'd have enough cap space to throw a max at Russell or Brogdon while keeping Harris cap hold...

Dlo/brogdon, Richardson, Simmons, Harris, Embiid is still a pretty strong group and probably battling for the 1 seed if we can add some depth. Its a fine backup plan but man it's going to suck not having a steady hand in the 4th again.

Which doesn't make sense. What pressure could they possibly put on a team that's done nothing but exclaim how much they love Jimmy and will be offering him the 5 year max the minute they're allowed?

Unless the Sixers feel like they can sit back and wait, take meetings with Kawhi, make Jimmy priority #3 and try to lock down Harris first? And maybe Jimmy's agent feels like he needs to get that 5th year and extra $50M first thing so put pressure on Sixers to change their priority but still...doesn't make a lot of sense.

Could be Jimmy is legit curious about these other teams and will take meetings just because, and if he decides he wants to go somewhere else he can ask the Sixers for a sign and trade.

Or it could be that he wants 5 year max and Sixers haven’t made an offer yet.

He can want to play with those teams all he wants but it’s up to Sixers to agree to a sign and trade. He doesn’t have much leverage there

That presumes that it's a given the Sixers will be offering that 5 year max from the jump, and I'm not sure that's the case. There's not much incentive for them to offer that much more than everyone else can if there isn't much of a threat for him to leave. Then again, this staff seems to be telegraphing their punches to the rest of the league, so I don't imagine they will do too well with contract negotiations.

Why do the Heat want him? They aren't a serious contender even with him.

The only thing I can imagine is:

1.Its Butler simply just taking advantage of being a FA and hearing what teams say in the event he becomes disgruntled again.
2.Its Butler's agent trying to put pressure on Philly to offer the 5 year max.
3.Butler or his agent have told Philly they want out, and it's generating suitors for a sign & trade scenario.
