I know flexibility is key but with this one year contract thing, what version of that player are you getting?

And notice, whenever there’s trade buzz going on, one of the biggest things held against us is we don’t have any players quote-unquote, just prospects. And our expirings almost never have any value come deal time.

I think there’s a space in between the Herzonja/Vonleh one year wash deals and ridiculous max for Tobias/Jimmy type deals that we can live at.

Waiting on these perfect players to magically fall to us or want to sign in free agency has kinda always been a fail for us. It can’t ALL be salary cap and draft positioning. Not if you believe RJ/Mitch/Knox are the real deal.

You don’t want them getting used to losing. You don’t want them picking up bad habits from indifferent mercenary vets. You want them to feel that we are invested in them and helping them win. Why is Zion getting a team built around him immediately in a far more competitive conference and RJ not in a weaker one? Zion is the better prospect for sure but RJ’s greatest asset as a player is his will to win. Why dull that by punting the season?

That would be an insanely successful rookie season. Those are Lebron rookie season numbers (Lebron also shot the ball pretty badly his rookie season). I do think if we don't get FA's he's going to lead the team in a lot of categories, I just hope we realize he's just 19 and will almost certainly have his struggles like any other rookie.

It would be nice if we could sign one or two snipers so that RJ (or DSJ for that matter) doesn't run into the same spacing issues he had at Duke. Dotson is the only credible shooter currently on the roster. A Danny Green type on a fat two-year deal would be cool. You could slot him at the two between DSJ and RJ.

Im not buying the Demar Derozen, james harden comps. RJ looks like a more atheletic lefty version of Paul Pierce , in game and confidence.

I don't think RJ's even practiced with the Knicks SL team yet so it's a bit early to start projecting rookie numbers imo

Lets project shooting percentages. If he shoots 45 % from the field and 31% from three ill be happy

A lot of his workout videos this summer shows him working on a stepback 3 pointer. He just needs to get to around 35-36% to be effective.

I'm pretty sure Harden never eclipsed 40% from behind the arc in his career but he has the green light to shoot over 10 3 pointers per game. I think RJ can live at the FT line (not to the effect of Harden,) but he needs to get that FT% up. That's my only real concern with him, he can't be shooting in the 60's from the stripe.

What does that even mean? What does being a 'top pick' have to do with trying to make rookie projections before they even have one practice with the SL team?

Besides, I put 'imo' there.... it's 'my opinion' that I think it's a bit early to make projections at this point... there's no right or wrong in an opinion about a subjective assessment, I didn't make an objective claim.

Yes but his subjective opinion is obviously superior. To him. That's what makes it objective, duh.
