I think Svi and Bruce Brown are similar in terms of NBA prospects. I'd actually rank Kyhri as the most likely to stick around in the league. He has looked efficient and fairly composed in his limited minutes. I'm really hoping summer league can bring some greater clarity as to which of these guys is ready for the next step.

I admit that the only film I've seen are his highlight films from Kansas and the Lakers and I believe he only played one game for us so I didn't know we had any film on him I did look at his stats from the G league and it looks like he presented himself very well my opinion of him is that he represents the best 2 sg that we have to me he is better than Luke Kennard and Bullock I was just wondering what other people's opinion are of him

So we watched the same things from him. He does well against lesser competition, but he is not good enough to play in the NBA, that's my take of what I've seen. He will probably be the best player in our Summer League team.

that's an odd take. I know fans and the staff are high on khyri but he couldn't even beat Bruce out for playing time.

Bruce is working on his shot now and his confidence is at a high from exceeding expectations last year. we're not giving Bruce enough love here. khyri is many steps behind.

I'd love to see svi in a backup SF role with pick 37 behind him.

I kind of see Bruce as more of a playmaker, backup 1.

I see Khyrie as a backup 2. I think people see more potential in Khyrie because he can shoot already. It’s easier to add muscle than it is to add shooting touch.

Their competition in the next few years will be Jordan Bone at the 1... Luke Kennard at the 2.

If Jordan Bone is as underrated as I think, we could very well see a future lineup of:

Jordan Bone/Bruce Brown
Luke/Khyrie/Deividas Syrvydas
Sekou/Louis King/Deividas Syrvydas
Blake/Sekou
Drummond
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

being realistic alot of these guys won't pan out. and front office will always find better options than our current options. we're always optimistic with our new players but maybe 2 of the 5 second rounders will be actual players.. just the way it's always been in the NBA

I wouldn't put money on it because its still a pretty big gamble at this point. If Bruce develops a reliable jumper he could easily be the best of the three. Maybe I'm just jaded after watching Stanley Johnson try to master his jump shot to no avail for 4 years.

Players like Tony Allen can survive a decade in this league due to defense alone. Brown is a keeper in the NBA. How much you wanna bet?

Hrm, I think it's likely Bruce Brown who's going to hang around, he was timid last year but he can play offense, I just think he bought into the defensive thing hard last year, out of those 3 guys I think he's the one, although I don't think Khyri T ever really caught up from his preseason issues, might still turn out being decent.

Bruce and Kyri are both going to have to learn to shoot if they are going to stick long term. Even though Kyri has the reputation, both him and Bruce shot under 30%. That does not cut it in today's NBA. I am anxious to see the commitment the current staff seems to be making to development and if it pays off with these players. You know with Bruce's work effort it won't be from lack of trying. Kyri likely could get more of a chance to prove himself this year. I think this will be a telling year for both to see where their career with the Pistons goes.

As it relates to Svi, I wanted to see him play this past season. Once again Gores wants to waste time being an eight seed so they sign Ellington and Svi plays in GR. I have read management say Svi can also play the 1......we'll see. I want these guys to get a chance and not waste time below to average level veterans who keep us around the 8th seed. It should be about championships not, getting in. If we don't think they can help us with a championship in 4 years, then move on..... That has to be the mentality to get back to where we were when we had a competent owner

Bruce Bruce has one mission this summer - three point shooting. He's reportedly locked himself in a gym and accepted being a 3&D wing is his niche in the NBA. Giving up on styling himself after Westbrook and working on all things like you do in college and then the shock and awe of your first NBA summer - it's a huge off-season for him and will be a very telling one.

He’ll be a solid player for us if he can add that 3 ball.

svi is the type of player that would get playing time on the nets and look good.. we don't let the young guys besides Bruce play for whatever reason

Defense. And knowing his role offensively. He never looks for his own shot - there is only so many shots to go around and those go to Reggie, Griff and Dre in the Casey offense.

Brown and Snell will both start for us and just stand out behind the arc while our offense plays a three man game. Just happen to get a grenade hand off as the clock winds down on occasion.

talking about svi as a backup though. more often than not he'd only be on the court with 2 of those 3 at most

So now that Jordan Bone is a goner, all Detroit has left for taking on Snell's extra $12+ mil year is the draft rights to Deividas Sirvydis and Portland's 2023 2nd rounder.

Oh yeah, Snell also cost like $2.5 mil more than Leuer did last year, which put Detroit right at the tax line all season.

Anybody still think that the Snell trade was a good move?

Snell trade was trash for us. Hopefully we just buy him out if we don't find a deal for him before the deadline. Let's give all the wing minutes to the young guys.

Return to Detroit Pistons
