He needs a win now situation, I don't think I see him being as productive(whatever that means) by the end of his contract, which likely doesn't suit our timeline. Hail mary for both him and the Rockets, considering CP's still on the clock

I get where you're coming from Bish. I guess it would be interesting to see if we could get him in, have Winslow and Bam develop (with Winslow under contract on a relatively attractive deal, and Bam extended similarly), and then have enough space for a max in 2021.

Jimmy can then transition back to being the #2 as he gets a little older like he should, with a true #1 in place surrounded by Winnie/Bam/Herro. I'm assuming Rich is dealt for Butler in this scenario too.

To me this screams Houston desperate to get Buter's attention. For him to commit 4-5 years in Houston after the issues that team has had makes little sense to me. Jimmy had issues with his touches in Philly apparently and even Chris Paul by himself had issues with Harden sharing the ball. Plus adding Jimmy's max to Houston means they have no flexibility until he expires.

The fact that it has been reported that he would meet with Miami but the same hasn't been said about Houston should tell you everything you need to know.

Hou's been the second best team in the league for the last 3 yrs, and the best team might have just took themselves out for the yr, so it makes some sense. Issue hasn't been sharing the ball for Houston, it's been talent. I don't know what any reported meetings might mean, but there's a lot of smoke on this end

So many personalities. Harden, CP3, and then you add Butler. That's going to be a short fuse. I'd just stay in Philly. They almost knocked off the champs. Would've likely beaten the Bucks IMO. Probably would've won the Finals too.

Even if the issues off court between Paul and Harden aren't true would they be much better with Jimmy added minus Gordon and Tucker? Also with Paul, Harden and Butler maxed out and two of them maxed into the 40mil range the next 3 years they have no flexibility to build around them.

GSW going down doesn't matter much when Lebron and AD are playing together in LA. East is also going to be much weaker as well.

Jimmy wanted to be traded here last summer despite our losing situation and bad salaries. Jimmy has been forced onto team's where he's playing behind other players and hasn't been able to be "the guy" since he was in Chicago I think that's what he wants most for his next team. He wants to be the guy and be on a team that will be competitive that's the reason I think he wanted to be here in the first place. He doesn't get that opportunity anywhere else except for the Clippers.

I not only think harden+butler+cp3 would not work due to their gaming style clashing, I also think it would be too punishing of a salary total.

There’s a reason why Riley has been saying he wants Orcas now, not bigger whales, and that reason is the salary cap. Big whales demand big contracts, money that can’t be used on support personnel.

Sure, for a couple of seasons an nba owner will pay the price, but given how punishing the luxury tax has become, an NBA team can only lose out on so many 10’s of millions of $$ before they throw in the towel.

Orcas are the future to a championship. -Pat Riley (paraphrased)

You do realize that Orcas are just killer whales right?

He wasn't saying he wants a different or smaller fish, he was saying he wants a different mentality of player

Is Jimmy better than Gordon and Tucker? Uh... Yeah

4 quarters doesn't equal a dollar in this league and Jimmy's a legitimate star. You have 3 stars, screw flexibility. We didn't have flexibility, nor the Warriors; means a short ride but a good ride
