If he wants to get guys like Justin Gaethje who just stand and bang, then so be it. Dana has said it many times, he wants exciting fighters and guys that try to finish the fights. I think Dana is a D bag, but don't really get the backlash on this one.
I watched it. The guy was in a pretty exciting fight and went for the finish before that point. His opponent was just durable and he looked to ice it in a few seconds at the end of a 15-minute fight where he was clearing winning and didn't want to risk getting ko'ed in a brawl at which point he'd lose more than a contract. I thought he was 50/50 when it comes to deserving the contract on performance. I just think the stated criteria is narrow-minded, and having an Ali client on the card was a factor in somewhat of a zero-sum game.
Bellator would be smart to invite him to their fw grand prix in October and announce it at their London event this weekend. They're building a market in England w/ the BAMMA acquisition, Sky Sports' deal, and UFC dropping off on their focus in the area.
