Kyrie is a bigger Isiah Thomas (offensively) with better range. All of his red flags to me are about his long term health and his quirkiness. Both of which are kinda overblown. Boston’s failing wasn’t all on him. And the word was he hated being there. Well? Wouldn’t YOU hate being there too? Look, we likely don’t get him but I won’t act like he’s not a magician (offensively) and total artist on the hardwood.

I think some people forget the NBA is a BUSINESS. Fans often look at it for the love of the game and nothing more. Those in it consider all aspects -- INCLUDING their paycheck.

All we do is talk about the business of the NBA with trade checkers and cap space considerations. Nobody is forgetting any of this whether it is a team making deals or a player getting paid. But there are people whose ASPECTS are more weighted to the mercenary.

Fans have every right to question a player's love of the game if they lack a passion for the sport that matches the intensity of those same fans who SUBSIDIZE that player's paycheck.

Yes, it is possible to be a great competitor and money hungry, but when a player is very vocal about their hunger for big paydays it should be no surprise if it signals to fans a suspect set of priorities.

I agree with you 100%. Fans have every right to question anything they want. However, I doubt any professional player gives a damn about what we think of their paycheck any more than we give a damn about what anyone thinks of our paychecks and us being paid our worth.

This Nets/Knicks rivalry is kinda pathetic when you consider that both teams suck. Would be more fun if both teams were actually good but you can't be a fringe playoff team in the East and puffing your chest out like you doing something

If it is a hot topic then it can get under the skin of any public figure. We've been talking about him being unable to avoid social media and it does get under his skin. So, yes, we can talk about his motivations and, no, you don't know who gives a damn or not. Apparently, KD is very affected by public opinion of his legacy and if people question his motives re: money and seeking challenges, then it will affect him.

No it’s pathetic because if they get KD and Kyrie and we get Kevon Looney and Khryri Thomas we’d still be the bigger deal lol.

Um, say what?

The Knicks are an original NBA franchise in the most influential city and have always been here. They are the legacy team most New Yorkers have been born into for many generations now.

The Nets are from Long Island, Joisey, Brooklyn for a hot minute and they are both on the same level as New York's teams?

Huh?

the funny thing is that they were a playoff team last year and we were literally the worst team in the nba but you wouldn't know it based on how desperate they are trying to be relevant, you'd think we were the playoff team

I’ve been going to Knicks games since 1985. I’ve also attended quite a few games at the old Brendan Byrne to catch Drazen/Kenny/D. Coleman.

IMO and experience there is no Knicks/Nets rivalry and never will be.

Here’s the worst case scenario for our Knicks—KD comes back 100% and reels off 3 straight titles for Brooklyn.

Guess what? A) Dolan would be shamed out of the league; and B) the Knicks are still the Knicks (and the Nets would still be our little cousin who rides the short-bus). In other words, it could be the best thing to happen to us.

The incredibly higher probability scenario here is that a KD/Kyrie era in Brooklyn goes up in flames, and we’re stuck in the same crosstown dysfunctional circle of doom that we all hate to love.

The Nets like the Wylie Coyote trying to constantly catch Roadrunner. Durant their latest evil scheme. Beep beep.

Return to New York Knicks
