I haven't commented on PJ Washington yet, but I'm very excited to watch him develop behind marv and with miles and bacon

He reminds me of James Worthy.

Thaddeus Young maybe? He's carved out a solid NBA career. Washington seems to have a little better shooting potential...

I think PJ could be the ideal small ball center. That standing reach though. PJ's got an 8'11 standing reach. In comparison, Cody has an 8'10 standing reach, Draymond has an 8'10 reach, Horford with a similar 8'11, and AD close at 9'0. Combine that with his strength and ability to step out and defend the perimeter, I kind of wonder if our best lineup might end up being Kemba-Bacon-Miles-Marvin-PJ (assuming Kemba stays and PJ is as NBA ready as I think he is). You know coach is down to playing small and there really isn't any behemoth centers in the east to worry about besides Embiid.

That's an intriguing lineup, if you swapped Marvin for MKG all of those guys would be capable of grabbing the rebound and initiating the fastbreak.

I think his best position will be center. people are calling him PF/SF, but i think thats wrong. He has a positional/skill advantage playing center, at SF he is just another big SF.

Could be one of those centers that can both shoot and defend the rim, which we need.

I like PJ Washington for this team as a small ball passing hub, Boris Diaw like player.

I hope he has more of an impact than Diaw when he was here, but I certainly don’t expect it.

so we avoided picking Bol Bol due to fear of chronic foot injury and instead chose PJ ... who has a bad foot?

seriously tho in the NCAA tourney what PJ supposedly had was a sprain - that's why they let him come back

would a sprain prevent him months later from playing SL? unless a reinjury something not adding up for me

People get so worked up about summer league, it means nothing at all. If PJ is 95% we shouldn’t play him, he can still get shots up and work on his game in the meantime.

Its funny that people already forgot about him, just because he didn’t play in summer league.

Seems like the type of pick who just quietly goes about his business and averages 11 and 6 in his rookie year.

I see him averaging 15 and 7.

In Greensboro.

There's not a lot of reason to believe he won't spent 90% of his minutes in the G-League, based on this franchise's history of ignoring rookies who enter their first season with any injury that prevented court time.

The team is going to feature Marv early on to try to build his trade value. I do expect PJ starting some time between New Years and the All-star break ... maybe sooner if Marv is traded or is injured.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Washington can play small ball 5 but I don’t want him there forever. We still need that draft pick who is a legit 7 footer, long reach athletic shot blocker/rebounder who has shooting touch. They don’t grow on trees, but if we get some draft luck that is a player we need. Also need (even worse) a seriously drop dead shooter at the 2 or 3. Miles may be getting slotted as a small 4, and that’s probably his best option, but he’s still a tweener in every way. PJ is also a tweener but I believe a better PF long term.

Looking forward to seeing him healthy and playing.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I will take a prop bet he plays more than 30 games in nba. You want that action?

Ill bet PJ averages 15 and 7 the last 35 games of the season after Marvin is moved at the deadline. 100$. More than willing to bet that.

PJ averaged right around 15 and 7 last year at UK. I'm not really expecting him to put up similar numbers for any letter stretch of his rookie season.

If he checks into the game and plays 14 seconds, are we counting that?

Good stuff about PJ. JB thinks he’s a 4 and could see time at 5, I like. Also impressed with his 3 ball game. Sounds promising.

I think PJ is going to face a lot of pressure to perform early on his career. This could be a good thing if he doesn't let failure slow him down. Our team doesn't have a lot of good passers, so he will be forced to create his own shot a lot more than he is probably used to. Hopefully, he embraces the opportunity. My expectations are high for him and that was when I thought Kemba was going to be here. Now, they are even higher. Nobody on the team is going to stop him from performing so the minutes are his for the taking.
