Jazz signed Favors to the deal they did to give them flexibility. Doesn't necessarily mean we're moving on from his this season because we can. Jazz have been a good team in part because of their depth. Even if we did get Harris while giving up 2 of Ingles, Favors, Exum. We would be so much worse on depth. And I don't think minimum guys would be flocking to join us over the Lakers. We would literally need to find backups for every starter. And people want to do that with minimum guys and one room MLE. What's even the best case minimum guys to sign? As much as a bench is important, spot starters might be even more important. What's the best backup center we can get at minimum? Koufos, Nene, O'Quinn, Reed? Hell at that point just throw in Bradley. Forward Tolliver(think I've decided he should be on this team anyway) would Mike Scott get more than minimum? Jeff Green a possibility? Dudley? Mbah a moute? Now guard..maybe we can get Neto back? Raymond Felton? Jose Calderon? Corey Brewer? Jazz as it stands right now have 2 and a half bench players in Royce, Exum and the split between Niang and Favors. Yes the bench is weak but adding Harris reduces the bench that much more and losing a hell of a lot of defense in the process. He's a fit offensively but I don't think he's worth losing the rest of our depth. I'd see what the rookies have. Try and bring back Neto if we have to waive him. Sign Tolliver to hopefully a minimum deal. Get the best player you can with the room MLE or maybe even split that up to a couple of guys who would be getting minimum offers anyway. It's pretty much the same players listed above, but filling in 3 to 4 bench roles is a lot more doable than 5-7

Pelton waived Favors and offered all the money to Mirotic(3/55 yuck... that's disgusting) from the get go and nobody else even made an offer for him so Mirotic chose the Jazz. Their conclusion was that the Jazz probably overpaid for Mirotic because of the lack of clearcut other options for him.

Favors got immediately waiver-claimed by the KNicks. In other words Pelton waived a player that the Jazz could have gotten assets for and gave up the same money for a player nobody else wanted. They thought the Jazz could get a second for Favors. In an attempt to fix that thing up they backtracked and Favors asked the Jazz if they can trade him somewhere for a second so the Jazz traded Favors to Boston for a second. If I were making a trade with Boston I would demand a first or else just send him to somebody else.

At the end of the day, Harris is just an overrated Mirotic.

Couldn't be happier to see Donovan on a court making passes to Mike Conley. Much better than seeing him travel the world in a boot.

Pelton is a East coast guy and just wanted Favors on the Knicks.... Worthless

Didn't we get him only a year ago or so? I imagine he could have signed as a head coach with a Euro club then too. Not really sure what to make of this move.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Ingles has a finger injury and is considering options about surgery... but might decide to not do it in order to play for Australia:

That's just great. Nothing warms my heart more than the threat of having an injured starter on a depth depleted roster. That's just perfect. :banghead:

No disrespect to Joe's camp or Aussie basketball, but I want Jazz team doctors making the decision on this one. Our interest is not their interest.

That's the injury that made him tape his finger for most of the season and probably part of the reason his shooting slumped... The Jazz have known about this injury and I have no idea why they didn't push for him to do the surgery the moment he was done with the season. This is BS. We are two months out now... he would have been ready to go for the FIBA World championship too.

This is the thing I will never understand. What are they waiting for? Do they think it will just pass and try to rehabilitate it without surgery? Just do the damn surgery the earliest you can so you will have the time to rehab...

Player's tribune article was really good, and having his mom as a guest editor made it even better.

Has Favors / Exum for Love been discussed this year?
Does that make the team better?

I wouldn't do it. Love can stretch the floor and rebounds, but his defense would be a concern and his health and contract a much bigger concern to me.

Medicine is just simply not black and white. Fingers are toes are often treated very minimally. They typically don't require surgery and unless it's a severe injury it's not something that gets worse with activity. I am sure Joe was evaluated by very competent physicians who felt at the time, that with time it would heal back to 100% without aggressive treatment. Perhaps it's still bothering him and so they are looking into other options that are typically not indicated (ie. surgery).

Damn the Pacers getting Brogdon for a future 1st. Great deal for the Pacers. Also add Lamb for a good price.
