Oh, the strange maxcat relationship we have.....

If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

It was funny and weird all at the same time. We've had some crazies around here for sure with sauces... I think Carl is my favorite.

only reasons that remotely make sense for him to leave GS IMO:
1. totally invested in working elsewhere (NYC for business purposes, etc.)
2. soured on GS organization/medical staff
3. not really feeling the teammates/work environment
if it's not one of those issues, i don't see why someone in his position would turn down a supermax if offered.
Several stars have turned down the supermax. That's not unique. I think that it's all about proving he can do it outside of GS.. similar to Kobe proving it without Shaq.
how many stars who could guarantee $220m coming off a devastating, potentially career-altering/ending injury? i can't think of any. i'm speaking to his specific situation. i'll be the first one to tell folks not to assume that supermax is gonna keep someone. i guess for me, risking $57m would never be something i could do. sure, he could come back fine and extend and basically make it all back. but, he also could NOT.
Then again, Durant made 187 million in contracts thus far in his career. He's going to make 160 more. That doesn't account for his past or future endorsement deals. I think he has a lot of things lined up in NY in terms of endorsements and business transactions. 57 million may not be material to his decision.

Re: Offseason Thread: KD opts out...To KD or not to KD
from that NY Post article:
On Monday, one talent evaluator contended a Durant signing has more chance of failure than success, saying “he wouldn’t do it,” adding, “By the fourth year, I can see people wondering when will he come off the cap.”
An NBA executive pointed out Washington’s dire situation with John Wall, who missed half of this season and may miss next season with his ruptured Achilles tendon after signing a super-max $170 million extension.
“You don’t want to be the Wizards and already have $44 million per year on the cap injured,’’ the executive said. “That would be crazy.’’

Bruhhh..
Dennis Smith, Jr. — Frank Ntilikina
Jimmy Butler — Allonzo Trier
Kawhi Leonard — RJ Barrett
Kevin Knox — Ignas Brazdeikis
Mitchell Robinson — Luke Kornet
Give Kawhi the full max
Butler 2+1
It’s gonna back up RJ but maybe he could start at the point? But signing a second star for 2 years will mean he doesn’t need to have all the pressure on him

I stopped following him years ago, but this has to be one of the biggest reaches I've ever seen. Literally nothing wrong with an owner wanting as much information as possible before throwing a max contract at a guy with a ruptured Achilles...

Or, maybe they consider Kyrie second-tier. Why would they meet with Kawhi + KD and THEN go to LA to meet with second tiers? If they're planning with second tier guys, they must be pretty confident that KD is coming.
This to me looks like they're going to confirm the signing with KD. Then, use him in an attempt to lure Kawhi. Then, if that doesn't work, they're flying out to the West coast to bring one of the second tiers in next to KD.
If that travel schedule is true, I'm really confident that they think they have KD in the bag. I wouldn't be surprised if Klay + KD turns into a thing.
Or you make a meeting with KD and Kyrie shows up, too, and vice versa.

I wonder what it would take to unload KD with 2 years left at almost 50+ million a year
Edit: Maths
i think you're looking at that wrong.
While the Knicks have an opportunity to acquire a major free agent or two in July, they maintain they will be patient to make the right move or no move at all. Mills said Knicks ownership is committed to a patient build with no pressure to sign free agents.
“Our plan wasn’t to create $70 million in room to go after free agents this summer,” Mills said. “Our plan was to organically build this team through teamwork, drafting well, getting high-character guys that want to compete. The [salary cap] space was a byproduct of that. If the right guys are there for us, great, because we still have all the young pieces and draft picks to move forward.
“And if they’re not, we’re going to keep building our plan, drafting our guys, playing well and potentially being trade partners. We feel really good about where we are going.”

For all Robin Lundergard knows, this was put out by a rival team to annoy KD. Give me a break.
The Dolan Narrative is really overblown and Knicks fans are in large part to blame for it.

fair, but $57m lost is still $57m lost.
i completely agree that's not going to be the difference in his life being what he wants it to be. but it's a fug-ton of money. respect for leaving it on the table if he does. just like respect for going out there and playing on that fried drumstick. i said he shouldn't have because of the risk, and he said fug it. lol.

when have we signed- an injured -all- time great- champion- in the past?
not never
I'm sure it wasn't really a question, so excuse me if you didn't actually want the answer: Francis, McGrady, Penny, Amare are just some, that list is endless.

yeah it got ridiculous for me. i hung onto every word/riddle he threw out there. I brought Carl up in conversations with other Knicks fans outside of this forum as if he had Woj credibility.
