I actually agree with him in part. Obviously, that's how teams are thinking but you don't want it in public as it's slightly embarrassing/damaging to Durant's FA bid to have it out there that we may be 2nd guessing.

I can't get behind that. I don't defend Dolan at all, but if it wasn't Dolan and the Knicks something like this wouldn't even be uttered. I can't imagine this having any effect on Durant's decision.

The part I don't agree with is that I don't think it will affect Durant's decision. I think it's a deliberate communication that the Knicks are going a different direction.

The point is, Dolan is getting quoted publicly about it. This means he thinks Durant is signing elsewhere and is now trying to save face.

I think some are looking the wink wink factor. If we made such an agreement, we have to sort of stick to it. In addition, we can't say "Hey, we are signing the guy, because we agreed to do so well before the injury".

I am not so sure this is a wise decision for the franchise, but I get sticking to the decision IF this is indeed the case.

The alternative is not signing a guy who we had a wink wink deal with, and running the risk of future FA's not trusting the organization.

Tough spot to be in, especially when you are trying to strengthen the way the organization is viewed by players. I am sure if this is the case, we were more sick than GS when the injury took place.... and they had a ring on the line.
