I think the only way Perry pulls this off (Kawhi) is if he can sign a 2nd star and trade for a 3rd. If that 2nd star is Jimmy, then that means RJ gets shipped. If it’s Kemba, then I could see a guy like Kevin Love being the target. If Kawhi leaves, could we poach Marc Gasol or Danny Green too?

None.

Most of our team is very young, 4 years of developing and playing along side KD and possibly in the playoffs gaining experience can only help them. Then if KD sucks, we let him go in 4 years and we roll with the youngins as they're about to hit their prime.

I think that means Jimmy Butler won’t be the target for a 2nd star. But I didn’t mean for that to be the takeaway of my post.
Perry has to be coming to the table saying, look if you sign here we can A) sign [Kemba/Jimmy/Tobias] and B) trade [Knox/Mitch/DSJ] for [Kevin Love type veteran] and C) recruit veteran role players like [Danny Green/Gasol/Jordan].

He'd be more than that, and if not, who cares..
Again, none of our players are ready to be stars yet, in 4 years time they will/could be. And it gives them a chance to develop and possibly get playoff experience so when they're in their own primes they already know what the playoffs are like.

not quite....its the context of the situation...If anyone can regain their form its a great player...KD is a great player-therefore,
all of these other injury comparisons are irrelevant. I'm betting that he does...And if we dont sign him when will another great player be available on the market? Giannis seems like the loyal type to me -I expect him to finish his career in Milwaukee...so the alternative
great player that we could sign over the next 4 years besides KD or Kawhi?

If the Celtics get Kemba people have to stop the nobody wants to go Boston talk
That would be Horford Hayward and Kemba in the last three years that’s pretty impressive

I don’t agree. If Kawhi comes the Knicks can put a Raptors like team around him. Siakam was really good but let’s not go too nuts. Raptors not entirely stacked.

1) Sign Kawhi
2) Absorb Gordon + Tucker
3) Absorb Teague
Start: Teague, Gordon, Kawhi, Tucker, Mitch
RJ -> 6th Man

Meanwhile the same Horford is leaving, Kyrie is leaving & Anthony Davis didn’t want to be bothered.
More impressive.

Whoa whoa whoa, if we sign Kawhi then all the other dominoes change. If we somehow walk out of that meeting with a signed contract, then the rest of our cap space and entire young roster will be blown up immediately.
Is Kyrie still picking Brooklyn? If so, would Kemba still pick Charlotte or Dallas? What about Jimmy? Tobias? Vucevic?
Kawhi is the first domino. None of the others can make a choice until he decides.
We have the assets and cap space to add 2 more stars and solid role players around Kawhi next season.
