Maybe if he punches CP3 in the face again...otherwise I'll pass.

That eliminates Mirotic from the equation, though... right?

Mirotic came back from the broken and destroyed a tank single handed. If anything, that's synergy.

What do you guys think about Elfrid Payton as a backup? New Orleans is stacked as far as guards. Payton is a bit of a sleeper!

I think this is why we offer Thabo, Neto, an Udoh minimum deals pretty early on.
Then I think we should call up a few exes for booty:
Demarre Carroll
Wesley Mathews
Alec Burks
Shelvin Mack
Devin Harris
even Rodney Hood
Maybe even Jonas Jerebko
And maybe maybe even Trey Lyles
But not George Hill

But if we don't go for Tobias Harris, and we can't get any S&T action, where do you wanna use the RMLE, and who are the min guys we want?

My top candidates for the RMLE are :
-Danuel House
-Reggie Bullock
-RHJ
-Dorian Finney-Smith...
-Maxi Kleber - but it's possible I'm way off on him ... for example he got some insane contract in the DUnc'd on podcast mock off-season - like... I don't remember exactly but I think 3/40... or something of the sort.

For the min... it really will depend on who's left after all the MLE spots are taken in the league.

Unless they are a rim-running center, I wouldn't want to use the room exception for anyone that can't hit a three...so RHJ and DFS are out.

I've heard or read that there are going to be roughly 200 free agents this summer. Looking at Spotrac, it appears that only 17 teams will have at least $10M in practical cap space. One would think that there are going to be a lot of players getting RMLE or less per season at the end of the day. I guess the question is will they be good enough to be in the rotation.

I’d love Elfrid Payton as a backup. Try and sign Elfrid, also go after Mirotic. Then see if we could get involved with Miami and Philly, more specifically try and get Winslow from the heat if Butler is trying to go there. I’m not all that familiar with numbers, but I think that would be a possibility if it was worked right.

Conley/Payton
Mitchell/Seth Curry
Ingles/Royce
Mirotic/Green
Gobert/Vonleh

Just a dream, but another option

Dunc'd on mock off-season update:
- Kevin Pelton decided to use the room MLE on.... can you guess... yep... a center. Ed Davis for the MLE 1-1.

So Mirotic for 3/55M... and Ed Davis for 2/10M(player option second year).... that's the best Pelton could muster for us... Eek!

I see Mirotic as a 3/40 at most.
Ingles is cooked.

Wonder if the Jazz could see any reason to trade Favs for some of the players the Rockets are trying to move.

According to Shams, Favors' agent told him that they are approaching FA as if Favors is unrestricted free agent. They will be fielding calls from teams. Maybe the Jazz are ready to move on after all... or maybe he's just playing it safe trying to get engagement from teams and not be left alone at the altar after all the FA money is drained, just in case the Jazz end up waiving him.

The thing is... since Favors is under contract... the Jazz must have given him the OK in order to do it... otherwise we can file tampering charges against anyone who approaches him.

Here's the final Dunc'd on mock for the Jazz:

-trade Favors to Boston for fake 2nd
-give Favors' money to Mirotic (3/55)
-sign Ed Davis for 2/10 with second year player option
-MEM trades Crowder to GSW for 1st round pick and Shaun Livingston

Roster ended up being:
PG Mike Conley, Raul Neto, Justin Wright-Foreman
SG Donovan Mitchell, Dante Exum, ???
SF Joe Ingles, Royce O'Neale, Miye Oni
PF Nikola Mirotic, Georges Niang, Jarrell Brantley
C Rudy Gobert, Ed Davis, Tony Bradley

Thoughts?

RAPM
Bjelica 1.18
Harris 0.61

Multi-year PIPM
Bjelica 0.6
Harris 0.2
Mirotic 1.1

Wins added
Bjelica 4.7

If we are going to be getting rid off Favors, lets just get Bjelica and use the rest of the capspace on wing(s)

Yuck. Helping out Boston for nothing. Overpaying Mirotic. I do like Ed Davis but as the roster is now, I don't see him coming here. I wouldn't be stunned if Jae goes for a 1st.

Not sure I can handle trading Favors to only end up with Mirotic, if are going to trade Favors than I would rather it be for someone with similar attributes but better at stretching the floor and making plays, which Thad Young fits that description. In saying that I could handle Mirotic for 10m a season and I think one thing that people overlook with Mirotic is how far he stretches the floor, he doesn't simply shoot from the the three point line, he regularly shoots 2-3 feet behind the line which is even more spacing for Gobert to run to the rim, much like Eric Gordon for Houston. The other issue is his defense which would be less prevalent with the Jazz, our defensive scheme is to funnel guys into Gobert and Mirotic main issue is keeping in front of his man so as long as Mirotic can stay involved in the play so that his opponent isn't able to give simply hand offs to Goberts opponent it shouldn't be too big of an issue. Which if he gamble and make plays instead of worrying about staying in front of his opponent then thats just gravy.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I'm in on Belly...but he will also cost something. SAC is looking for a C. Maybe we trade Favs for Belly and get something extra?

I think we'd be favorites over everyone except for LAL and HOU. LAC as well if they get Kawhi.

40/60 against LAL, HOU, LAC
60/40 against DEN, POR, GSW
75/25 against SAS, OKC

This is actually genius if Dennis can convince the agent to share all the info the agent finds out. Dennis now knows who wants Favors and at how much. Would make keeping Favs and flipping him a bit easier.

Yep. On Dunc'd on they were trying to get a lot of centers on the Kings(Adams, DAJ, etc). Favs for Bjelica might be doable.
