As an "in the know" resident of Riverside, I can tell you that Kawhi to the Lakers has been in the works for two years and Kawhi needed to see the Lakers land a big fish first. The developments in Toronto have increased the odds he doesn't wind up in LA though. Lakers are looking passed LeBron, and so is Kawhi - pairing with AD eases the requirements during the regular season. Playing in Toronto will end up being much of the same as it would for the Clippers and his camp realizes that. It's either back to Toronto on a short term deal or the Lakers.

Well, he's a Laker fan. In his defense, I think he was kidding about being "in the know." OTOH, he doesn't seem to know the Lakers' finances are already a dumpster fire, although I think it's inhospitable to our guest to be calling him the village idiot. We have a couple of our own around here.

You seem to have issues with how the salary cap works. The Lakers can excecute the deal on July 6th as an over the cap team if they get a committment from a free agent prior to that date. At least before you throw out a ton of mouthbreathing insults you should fact check your mumbo jumbo garbage. I tried to be nice and come here to tell you that Kawhi isn't a moron, and Dennis is all about the money and that voice matters in Kawhi's ear, they would never dwarf his own career by joining the Clippers while LeBron and AD are on the more well known team in the same city, but think what you want. You'll see in a few weeks who was "kidding."

Oh, I think the Lakers do the deal regardless of whether they sign a max guy or 3 or 4 good players instead.

The guys they dumped are projects who are years away from making a playoff rotation, if ever. Lakers are in win-now mode. Desperately in win-now mode. AD is a UFA next June. Pedal to the metal even if it blows up the engine.

Well I think you are but not for the reason Kawhi will join Lakers.

Its just against his personality..easy road to the finals..ring chaser/collector..if anything he would be lookimg to beat their asses.
So I believe he stays in Toronto for 2 years and if Lakers make it to the finals he will wait.

Also if Lakers sign third superstar their debth will be G league..
And in order to come to NBA finals both LBj and AD will need to play 90-95 games minimum. If they load management Lakers will not finish top 4 with scrubs..so they will need to play this season and looking forward to see how their body react to 100games challenge.
AD is injury prone and LBJ will be 36..

Now if they are smart they will use 32mill to sign 3 good players/shooters instead and that would be a different story then..but I am positive they are dumb and will go for the this superstar..

They are different situations. For one, you keep hearing in the media that Klay's camp is open to leaving if Golden State doesn't offer him the 5-year max? Have you heard the same thing about Kawhi? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Are you even following the NBA? KD has already relocated to New York along with his startup. There's been nothing but talk of him signing in New York with the Nets now the likeliest of destinations. Meanwhile, Kawhi is still in Toronto scheduling meetings. How are all those situations similar to each other? Nevermind the obvious fact that each player is a different individual with different motivations.

Quite a few of you Raptors fans are the ones coming over here trying to convince yourselves that Kawhi coming back to Toronto is a 100% done deal while everyone anticipates it's still a close race between our two respective clubs.

It was incredibly naive for people to believe their dysfunction discounts them from being players in things like this. Do I expect them to sign him? I dunno. But I never confused "Kawhi would be silly to sign there" with "they have no shot".
