I'd pay the man that on a contract that declines over the 3 years. Can you imagine how sick our defense would be? OMG.

I like him too, but he's 30 and only played more than 70 games twice, and once was this past year.

Pat Bev is not going to make 13m per year. He signed for 6m per year in his prime and he's older and beat up now. If he's lucky he might get a team to use the standard MLE on him, which is around 9m per year.

Not really a surprise. Here are 10 reasons why.
1) Centers who's value is based on being a main offensive option on the team is not coveted in today's NBA.
2) Centers who don't provide elite defense are not coveted in today's NBA.
3) Center position is easy to fill in today's NBA.
4) Teams don't want to allocate a huge chunk of their cap space on a C period.
5) Many cheaper serviceable Centers are available.
6) On offense, teams are adopting Space and Pace which pushes the speed of the offense and is based on small ball. The opposite of Vuc.
7) Conversely, Vuc takes advantage of teams who play small ball by using his size advantage inside, so his stats are inflated during the regular season, but when faced against a team that can match his size, he is completely negated and exposed ala Toronto.
8) Teams that have the ability to play big or small is where the NBA wants to go. Vuc's skillset is that of a Center you would want coming off the bench.
9) Where are all the old school Centers going? See Greg Monroe, Jahlil Okafor, Jakob Poeltle, Andrew Bogut,
Enes Kanter...
10) Magic fans fear factor is not shared by the rest of the NBA. Our fans say his scoring will be hard to replace when in reality the Magic's overreliance on him has played a role in the slow offensive development of others. Dipo had to freelance because he had balls to do so. Everyone young prospect plays a secondary role to the Evan & Vuc Show and their merry band of "vets trying to get theirs" ... Jeff Green, Jonathon Simmons, Terrance Ross....
That all said, we should be accustomed to the Magic overbidding themselves here. Vuc will return for a boatload of money that will make him untradeable (not saying much since he was untradeable in his last deal where he only made $14M per lol). The culture here will remain the same (good when winning, bad when losing - no core confidence and faith in each other)... development will be slow... pace will be slow (our pace was ranked 28th in the league last year)... and the NBA will be fine and happy letting the Magic enjoy NBA abyss (too good to get a good draft pick, too bad to ever go far in the playoffs).
Please WeHam. Shock us a change our course in a new direction. Or at least make his deal very short. Money matters none.

Now that Kemba Walker is leaving Charlotte, See if Maybe if we can clear out DJ Augustin, Carter Williams, etc but keep Fultz if he'll be ready for the season opener and add BJ Taylor to our actual 12/15 man roster.

I mean I like Beverly as a player, but he's better off as a starter next to a ball-dominant, play-making wing like Harden, Doncic or Booker.

Hey at the very least at least this adds flavor to forum discussion. I care more about invigorated and passionate discussion than being right or wrong (which glory/pain lasts about 2 seconds)

Not saying that Iwu should guard them, I'm just saying that the level of their opponents is higher. Siakam and Gianis could be guarding only starters during a game, however Iwu will guard 50/50 (starters vs backup) or whatever.
He’s defending 1st and 2nd stringers not g leaguers. He’s a good defender and hustle player and I’m pretty sure he was shooting close to 43% from three the second half of the season. But because he’s not out scoring everyone...come on’
Did I say he is a bad player? In fact, I like him as a backup.

Iwundu will have value as long as he solidifies that 3pt shot and appreciated his role of the bench. The defense is nice but that alone won't make him a keeper.

Re: Official Speculation Thread ‘19-'20 II: BIG as F
Lets just hope NBA GM's remember the summer of 2016.
Every free agent is seeing this summer as a repeat of that offseason because so many teams have some cap space. The key difference is that unlike that summer, 40% of the entire NBA is hitting free agency this summer. There is a lot more competition and a much higher tier of players vying for that cap space.

I wouldn't say that defines him as a "keeper," as every team needs to fill spots 11-15...but it will dictate wether he gets a rotation player deal next summer or just a deep bench (aka minimum $) contract.
