I'm willing to give LA the benefit of the doubt that Griffin said we need to get this done right now so I can shop the pick before the draft and you can search for a 3rd team later but it's not my problem.

I still have little faith that Pelinka has a clue what he's doing though. But props to LA for figuring it out and getting the max slot and Washington gets a look at a couple ok prospects for free, which is the type of moves they should be making.

the July 30th date was un doable as the #4 pick wouldnt get to play in summer leagues, Pelinka already knew nop was shopping it so it people just wanna find ways to throw dirt on pelinka grave when ALL the details weren't released yet....so woj can take his rhetoric n go kick rocks

you know, noted LA mouthpiece Ramona Shelbourne reported the same thing.

I get the entire city of LA has declared war on Woj which would be freaking hilarious if it wasn't so pathetically sad. But in this case, this story was reported so many places by so many people you can't rationally accuse of an anti-LA bias that it requires an amazing amount of only seeing what you want to see to take this position so strongly.

If they really knew, it would have been in the original deal.

maybe nop didnt want those 2? n shelbourne has already admited to getting faked out by her "sources", just 1 day prior to ad trade announcement she was on air saying
her laker "sources" said the trade wasnt going to happen....maybe rob didnt ask for the july 30th date but that has already been stated was unlikely as that would prevent whoever ended up with 4th pick from playing that player in summer leagues

Looks like your classic "everybody wins" kind of deal...well OK, not counting the rest of the league beyond the Lakers and Wizards.

But, this is just the sort of bottom feeding for upside that I want to see the Wizards go with directionally. It looks like a really cheap flier giving four shots at someone sticking for such low money per year.

And for the Lakers, well, the door is wide open for them now.

Yeah we know July 30 wasn't going to happen, but they could've traded these guys earlier and gotten AD to waive the kicker. This doesn't read like a plan that was in place all along, it reads like they scrambled because they learned they had to and got these two things done. Props to LA for getting it done. The end result is there. But it seems unlikely that this was all a part of the plan or it could've been announced all at once.

it still remains to be seen if pelinka does know what hes doing when it comes to roster construction but the narrative that he doesnt know anything bout cap space is clealy a bias take...as an agent he was praised for knowing the ins n outs of how the cap worked

thats fine take but its still excusable for pelinka. pelicans were gona shop the 4th pick n didnt want to be bothered with more headaches in finding a 3rd team to take those guys, so its not unfeasible to think Griff had Pelinka go n find the 3rd team on his own time n btw the gleague guy jjones signing with unguaranteed $ was signed days prior to this ad trade, so clearly pelinka had "some" idea what he was doing

Yeah. Could absolutely be both. He didn’t know, but learned from all the questions being asked and figured it out. I mean, otherwise this trade could’ve been figured out a while ago. It would’ve been more beneficial too, as max free agents would’ve seen earlier that they were a possibility.

A Lakers insider reported a month ago that hawks and wizards had interest in being the third team in an AD deal.

I bet it’s going to be Kawhi Leonard.

If I am not mistaken it’s two separate trades. I might be grossly off.

1st trade can be finalized now with Lakers,Pels and Wizards

2nd trade in July 6th between Lakers, Pels and Hawks.

Where are they getting $32m?
Is this just a D.Lo Max they mean?

Looks like they are going to have the cap room PRE Davis trade. So, they have to agree to someone before July 6.

The moratorium ends on the 6th. So they'll have to get that player signed at midnight and then make the trade.

I don't have the raise - guarantee for Jones kicking in until July, so that is an issue.

To trade for Davis in June, the Lakers would need to send out $20.27 million in salary. Hart, Ingram, Ball, Wagner and Bonga are currently $17.64 million in salary.

I want to see LeBron and AD with Kawhi, or even Kyrie. For whatever reason, the idea of super players getting together intrigues me. Felt the same about KD going to the Warriors. I know, I'm going to hell.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Leonard is the last stand alone warrior. I really want to see him defend the Raptors' status as Champions.

Yeah I’d rather it not be Kawhi. I loved watching him taking over with good role players in TOR
