Grizzlies without Conley and Gasol ? That's like 50/50 best case for them.
Yeah, I think we have a decent chance of being better than the Grizzlies. Not sure I'd bet on being better than anyone else in the west, but it's possible with injuries and all.
I like us better than the Wolves, too, but the rest is hard to figure out.
I think the biggest thing is having solid players at 1-10. I've been preaching about quality depth for some time now. Not having terrible players in your rotation is important. Assuming Baynes stays, that Oubre re-signs, and assuming Johnson and Jerome do not fail to translate for whatever reason, I think we're already in a dramatically better place than last season - especially compared to the beginning of last season. Of course, the west is so good that we're still unlikely to make the playoffs.
I don't think there's a PG in the league we could add that would get us to the playoffs unless this team, roughly as constructed, could get us there.
We don't have a lot of quality depth right now, though of course we still have to fill out our roster. But it would be better to truly judge our depth with new players after we saw the team play a few games. Many of us will always convince ourselves on their draft picks but they may not be ready to add much yet (though I think Johnson and Jerome will likely be ready to play and contribute...but they are still mid to late first round pick rookies). IIRC you loved our depth going into last season...I remember you liking us more than the Nuggets feeling like our depth was better....though looking back I guess you had our bench above a lot of teams...and I knew you had high expectations for us last year but I didn't remember them being as even highly as they were.

Though that was when you still thought Knight was starting for us.
