Re: 2020 NBA Draft
I am not going to put out a board because there are too many guys and it requires too much projecting, bunch of dudes that I like probably won't go OAD but I think Cole Anthony by default almost would be nº1
Amar Sylla likely top3-5, Wiseman way lower than consensus, Edwards kinda too

Sylla is intriguing but haven't seen enough to really peg how high
wasn't too impressed with the other international guys that I've watched, except for Maker who's a 21 guy.

You are gonna have to put your boy Grimes in there, committed to Houston and likely will get to play right away (kinda why he went there probably, although it's a pretty good fit)
Grimes-Mills
Jarreau-Sasser
Hinton-Roberts
White-Alley
Gresham-Harris
Small-ish team, tons of versatility in the perimeter, Grimes and Jarreau taking turns at PG, hopefully some of the new guys provide depth, I like Fabian White, Alley is kinda like a stretch 4

I mean I'm all for the Dukie love but what haha. Stanley has a short wingspan, inconsistent defender, horrible shooter, below average handle and is going to be 20 years old before he plays a minute at Duke. I mean the dude is 11 months older than Zion.
I expect Stanley to be a OAD because he seems to be set in stone on being a OAD. But no way is he in contention for the #1pick. The only question with Stanley is, with his great athleticism, is he worth throwing a 2nd pick on him.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft
there is no clear #1 guy, so expect a lot of random names to pop up for the #1 pick lol

Re: 2020 NBA Draft
There hasn't been a college non-freshman drafted in the top 3 since 2013 (Blake Griffin is the only non-freshman to go #1 in the one-and-done era and even he was pretty young for his class, basically the exact same age at the time he was drafted as Scottie Lewis would be in 2020), and this past year's draft was weak enough that anyone with that kind of potential could've just left and been picked in the lottery at least. So between that and how the top incoming recruits are dotted with bigs who play mostly below the rim and don't guard out on the perimeter, it narrows down the list enough to not be totally random.

Oh, duh. I keep forgetting about him because he's young for his class as well (and he was in the mix for best point guard in the draft before the season, so he wasn't exactly out of nowhere). Could probably change non-freshman to older than 20 at the time of the draft because in recent years the only older freshman I can think of to go that high was Embiid, who obviously had unique circumstances in terms of being relatively new to the game.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft
Amar Sylla wasn't very impressive in this game today. On offense he doesn't look like someone teams have to pay a lot of attention to, and defensively he got lost/caught on screens quite a few times and wasn't making up for it with a crazy high motor (basically seemed to defend as though his reputation alone would make opposing players miss shots).
If you had told an uninformed person Senegal had a 2020 lotto pick on the court, they'd have pointed to Ibou Badji, who it turns out is only 16. Badji is a very long 7-footer who looked Mitchell Robinson-esque in terms of blocking shots out on the perimeter and had some flashes on offense. He's currently skinny but not in a Thon Maker/Jalen McDaniels way where it appears it will always be the case.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft
Badji is more Embiid than Robinson physically, he has very limited pop, but is huge, fluid and mobile with great coordination
Mitch is quick and super athletic
Sylla is in a bad situation, playing a ton of 3 in a team with no perimter talent, their best 5 players are all big men

Yeah I get that obviously, but even at his best offensively he's just hanging out in the dunker spot and making a little dump-off pass if the defense totally collapses on him. He isn't that great at finishing through contact, and his handle looked extremely rudimentary. Defensive role players like Tony Allen and Marcus Smart scored at a pretty good clip in college, and regardless of the fit on his team 6 points in 36 minutes (when it’s not like Lithuania was loading up to prevent him from scoring) is hard to sugarcoat.
I don't think this class will be that much better than 2019 though, so he could definitely be a lotto pick still.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft
i don't know how I feel about Hayes/Theo...they seem really similar, but nothing really stands out to me from either...solid, but nothing extraordinary really about either. Theo has the potential to be really good in the half-court but I don't like his full court game that much.

Reggie Perry completely dominated in the New Zealand game when it still mattered (before it was just transition buckets all the time). Will keep an eye on his improvement the upcoming season.

Yeah I was looking at him as a potential one-and-done going into last season, but he didn’t really mesh with Holman and I didn’t realize he was that young where he could be one of the few college sophomores on a U19 team.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft
I'll be watching Australia's games. Josh Green/Makur Maker aren't playing, so that leaves Sam Froling (Creighton commit who decided to go back to NBL. He'll be on LaMelo Ball's team) and Tamuri Wigness (think he's a class younger, born 2002) as the only prospects with real NBA upside imo.
Froling had a good 1st game, 15/13/6 I think was the line. Poised post game and good feel.
Wigness is coming off the bench even though I find him to be the clearly better player than the starter (Isaiah Lee; I think he just starts because he's older). Had 13 points in 21 mins, 3 triples, pesky defense, great PnR passing. His quickness and ball handling absolutely pop, really hoping he continues to grow because he's currently still 5'11. One concern I have with him is that his 3 point shot is quite a set shot w/o much elevation, not sure how that's going to translate as he gets older, particularly if he stays small.
